🫀Heart disease is the leading cause of mortality in the United States. Shockingly, every 80 seconds, a woman succumbs to heart disease, contributing to over 900,000 American lives lost annually. Unfortunately, many aspects of heart disease remain widely misunderstood or underappreciated by the general public. 📣 We must advocate for education to raise awareness of this critical issue. We extend our gratitude to HonorHealth and Arizona Digital Free Press for their efforts to educate the public. Here are several essential points that people may not know: 1. Silent Symptoms: Heart disease doesn't always manifest through clear or severe symptoms, and some people may experience minimal symptoms or none at all until the disease progresses to an advanced stage or leads to a heart attack. 2. Not Just a Man's Disease: There's a common misconception that heart disease primarily affects men, but it is also the leading cause of death for women in many parts of the world. Women's heart disease symptoms can differ from men's and are often less recognized. 3. Young People Are Also at Risk: Heart disease is often associated with older age, but young adults are not immune. Lifestyle choices, such as poor diet, lack of exercise, and smoking, can increase the risk of developing heart disease at a younger age. 4. Mental Health Connection: Stress, depression, and other mental health issues can have a significant impact on heart health. These conditions can lead to increased risk factors for heart disease, such as high blood pressure and irregular heart rhythms. 5. Heart Disease Affects More Than Just the Heart: It can lead to a range of complications and affects overall health, including kidney function, brain health, and peripheral vascular health. Let's work together to raise awareness of heart disease and the risk factors associated with it. “Stress, inflammation, depression, anxiety, and chronic disease go together. Inflammation is the culprit in all these diseases.” Deepak Chopra, a world leader in alternative medicine and meditation, shed light on what he deems the world’s most pressing health problem today. When the body’s immune system is alerted to anything foreign, like pollen or microbes, it triggers an inflammatory response. Acute inflammation protects the body and helps it heal. However, when inflammation persists, and becomes what’s known as chronic inflammation, serious health consequences can follow. Here’s how Deepak Chopra suggests reducing chronic inflammation: bit.ly/3MLPyd9
