🥳 "I'll be working as teacher assistant in a small special ed class of k-2nd graders! I plan to go back to school for occupational therapy in the near future, so this is a great starting point. I was told that I beat out some strong candidates! It feels like a perfect fit." Maybe you have a spotty work history. Maybe you've been out of the workforce for years and are strategizing how to return. Maybe you're ready to switch careers. When you're making a change or have a nontraditional background, it's especially important to make sure your resume shows how you're the person for the job. Now a days, many students and people express concerns about the scarcity of job opportunities. However, opportunities are abundant for those willing to grab them. During interviews, I've noticed a significant generation gap and differences in attitudes between 2k kids and 90's kids. For 2k Kids : * They often forget to greet with "good morning" or "good evening". * They address higher authorities as "bro" or "sister". * They inquire excessively about holidays and leaves. * They expect high salaries without prior experience. * They wait for companies to initiate communication. * They may use disrespectful language. * 😡They sometimes show laziness towards work. For 90's Kids: * They generally greet with "good morning" and express well-wishes. * They show respect towards higher authorities. * They understand the importance of their role. * They value gaining experience over high salaries. * They respond promptly and proactively. * They maintain a respectful attitude. * They exhibit punctuality and dedication to tasks. Who needs to change? It's essential for both generations to recognize the importance of character and attitude alongside skills. A positive approach towards others and a strong work ethic play a significant role in securing opportunities and ensuring job security. 💬 What's your take? I invite your thoughts and comments on this matter.

What you shouldn’t include on your CV If you’re updating your CV for the first time in a while you might find yourself struggling to get down to the (alleged*) regulation 2 pages If any of the following are taking up space then it’s time to get rid: 👉🏻 A photo. As much as including a picture shouldn’t matter, you don’t want to include anything that might prompt bias or judgement 👉🏻 Names and contact details for references. If you get a job offer, that’s the time to supply details of who your referees are 👉🏻 Details of your marital status or dates of maternity leave. Not relevant for someone to decide whether you fit the bill for interview and again invites bias unnecessarily 👉🏻 Hobbies and interests unless they’re relevant in some way. If you’re applying to work for Sport England then doing sport in your spare time is relevant. If you’re applying for 3rd sector roles your volunteering is worth mentioning. But for most roles hobbies are just padding #CVTips #JobSearch

Director of Talent Acquisition & Recruiter, Ninja Recruiting // Business and Career Coach // Publicist, True Talent PR // Manager, Platinum Star Management // DE&I advocate. Basically, I'm an Entrepreneur.
https://lnkd.in/ginzCy3t For any HRBPs, Human Resources Business Partners or anyone in People, Talent Acquisition or Recruiters: "When you’re setting up job postings to try to bring on new talent, you may be aware that you’d like to hire someone who recently graduated from college. Perhaps you believe they’re going to have skills and abilities that your other workers lack. Maybe you’re trying to change your company culture and you want to bring in young talent. There are a lot of reasons to do this, and many of them make sense. However, if you create a job posting that says you want to hire a recent college graduate, you may get yourself into legal trouble. What’s the problem? The problem, essentially, is that a job ad that mentions “recent graduates” appears to be a coded way of saying that you’re not going to hire older workers. They’re basically being told not to apply unless they just graduated from college, which tends to happen to people around 22 years of age. Now, there are those rare individuals who may have graduated from college in their forties, but they’re far less frequent and it makes your job posting appear to be targeting a specific age group. This is a problem because you cannot legally discriminate against those who are 40 years of age and older. They’re supposed to be given the same treatment and the same opportunities. You don’t want to make an older worker feel like there’s no point in applying, even though they have the skills that you need, because their age is going to hold them back."
