THE UNITED STATES HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL MUSEUM teaches that the Holocaust was preventable and that by heeding warning signs and taking early action, individuals and governments can save lives. With this knowledge, the Simon-Skjodt Center for the Prevention of Genocide works to do for the victims of genocide today what the world failed to do for the Jews of Europe in the 1930s and 1940s. The mandate of the Simon-Skjodt Center is to alert the United States’ national conscience, influence policy makers, and stimulate worldwide action to prevent and work to halt acts of genocide or related crimes against humanity, and advance justice and accountability. Every year we move further away from the tragic events of the Holocaust. As time passes, memory fades, and Holocaust denial and distortion grows. Every one of us is a link in the chain of Jewish history and memory. We each have the ability to make a difference in how we give to the past a living future, to share the experiences of our people with integrity as we etch them into our souls with each effort to remember. Let us deepen the meaning of Never Forget. Today is the 80th anniversary for the liberation of Auschwitz — the day defined as the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. And it seems the world has forgotten the lessons. Since the October 7 Hamas-led terror attack, antisemitism has been spiraling out of control everywhere in the world, and cyberattacks against Holocaust and Jewish memorial and educational websites have surged at an alarming rate. In 2024 alone, Cloudflare mitigated around 47 million cyberthreats against these important websites — a 30% increase compared to 2023. Read more about our findings: https://lnkd.in/dSYgfz-k
