Salesforce — or any other technology, for that matter — will not solve your leadership problems. We've heard all the complaints: - Salesforce is too complicated - Salespeople aren't using it - Our data is a mess It's easy to believe that we can overcome organizational challenges and uncertainties with a big tech solution. Yes, they can help. But they're not a substitute for effective leadership. We've seen (countless times) companies invest heavily in cutting-edge tools, only to find that the expected improvements don't materialize. Why? Because technology is an enabler, not a fixer. It can't mend a lack of vision, unclear KPIs, a disjointed business process, poor communication, or a disengaged workforce. Of course, Salesforce is placing all their bets on AI. So this appears self-serving. But I believe he's correct. I'm not saying AI should replace many (most?) workers over time, but along with automation and robotics, it will. Plan well ahead for your job to be changed or eliminated by AI, automation, and robotics. The more diversified your knowledge and skill sets the more likely you'll remain employed. Figure out what you can do for work that's less likely to be done by technology for the foreseeable future. No job will completely avoid technology impacts but some jobs will be far more secure than others. Maybe consider self-employment. I paid a plumber bill the other day for one hour of work and about $30 in parts - $450. Maybe the plumbers and electricians had the right career paths after all.
