The Learning Strategy - MedRegBio.com

Per the article: Where do manufacturers receive their perinatal tissue (suppliers) and should they be considered drugs? Also, according to paragraph 17 in the article, the FDA does not appear consistent when applying the "Homologous" rules for specifically orthopedic treatments. Homologous means similar origin, similar function in the target tissue. The umbilical cord is made of a cartilaginous, jelly-like (Wharton's Jelly) material that has a cushioning effect. When you inject that "jelly" in an arthritic knee, for example, worst case, it will help to cushion that knee and hopefully best case, signal repair and possible regeneration of the damaged cartilage. Just using the worst case scenario, that's homologous use, ie., cushioning the umbilical cord vein = cushioning your knee.
