The Western seaboard ports even more strategically valuable now than the Treaty ports as they were known were 100 years ago. I am reminded that the British Admiralty was secretly allowed to station an armed tug at Killybegs for air-sea rescue purposes. What we gave up in fish quotas to the EU should should not be surrendered for any purpose in the future. We have enough land to feed half of Europe and enough coast and marine territory to power more than Ireland. Hugh opportunities to be exploited if the dots are joined and the political will is there to support the private and public sectors to make things happen.
