✨We are proud to announce that the EXSOTHyC project is up and running. Funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, the project aims to develop Exsolution-Based Nanoparticles for Lowest Cost Green Hydrogen via Electrolysis. 🔬EXSOTHyC will optimise electrolyser operation towards lower voltages and higher efficiencies. In a nutshell, the partners will combine electrodes made using powder metallurgy with ceramic nanoparticles fabricated by exsolution, leveraging on the synergy that both methods require reducing atmospheres. 🎯The innovation is three-fold and addressing: 🔹 Alternative pathways to the O2 and H2 evolution reactions by new anode and cathode approaches 🔹 Novel concepts of membrane electrode assemblies with integrated components 🔹 Novel cell design to enhance overall cell efficiency by integrating disruptive concepts The EXSOTHyC Project will be coordinated by @Stargate Hydrogen and have the participation of strong partners. We are proud to announce that our GREENCAP partners (UNISTRA, in collaboration with TUD, TCD, and BED) have completed work focused on functionalization of MXene and graphene materials, and demonstrating improved electrochemical properties. Key findings from this work include: - Functionalization of Ti3C2Tx MXene with small organic molecules. - Functionalization of V2C MXene using diazonium salts to enhance K+ storage performance. - In-situ functionalization of MXene surfaces with borate polyanion groups through a flux-assisted eutectic molten etching approach. - Improvement of electrochemical performance of graphene-based supercapacitors via high-pressure homogenization and wet-jet milling. Recently, Sumitomo Chemical and 東京工業大学 have successfully achieved two innovative results. 1.miniaturization of multiferroic materials, which has been technically challenging. 2.discovering high-efficiency photocatalytic function in multiferroic materials. These results are expected to make a significant contribution to the development of next-generation environmental technologies. The group of materials that have a strong electron-electron interaction is called strong correlation materials. They are expected to be utilized in next-generation memory devices that can operate with ultra-low power consumption, energy harvesting devices that efficiently convert ambient energy, such as light and heat, into electric energy, and environmentally-friendly water purification systems. Since April 2023, the Company has been working on collaborative research projects with the University of Tokyo, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and RIKEN. Sumitomo Chemical believes that strong correlation materials are a next-generation essential technology that can contribute to both energy saving and generation. Recyclable and sustainable batteries are a prerequisite for a green energy revolution, as the rapidly increasing demand for batteries is driving up the consumption of rare raw materials like lithium. Two spin-off ventures, stemming from various ETH Zurich research, are working to solve this problem by applying innovative production and manufacturing techniques in the battery domain. BTRY, an ETH spin-off, creates ultra-fast-charging batteries that can withstand temperature changes and are appropriate for various uses.
