There are many posts highlighting the importance of receptionists as the first face of service in a hotel and I disagree since the first face that a customer sees of a hotel employee is, without a doubt, the face of the security employees who are at the main entrance door of the Hotel. Been hearing similar things from Hotel GM's this month... It seems like going into Thursday - occupancy projections may be around 50-60% only to finish the week around 90% with a ton of last minute bookings and a more localized guest base. "I think that in 2023 people wanted to get out and travel far, visit larger cities, experience new cultures... but the metrics are showing that in 2024 we are serving a relatively more local crowd right now that is wanting to travel but choosing closer, more affordable options last minute." How do you choose an audio-visual provider in a foreign country? You need references. We work in 5-star hotels and in most cases the hotel has a preferred supplier that they work with. In most cases that supplier is preferable because they know the venue, they know how to get in and out, what size of equipment works for the specific location and can give you really good recommendations based on the setup you want. Bringing a different supplier sometimes also comes at additional costs as the hotel can charge you a percentage for bringing in a different company. So if you do they should be worth it.
