May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. How are you celebrating our AAPI neighbors, family members, colleagues and community members this month (and all year)? Three recommendations: 1. Check out the work of the The Asian Community Fund at the Boston Foundation and follow my colleague, Danielle Kim. 2. Read the current issue of Boston Spirit Magazine and specifically the article on community funds in support of the LGBTQ+ community, including a new fund launched in the Merrimack Value thanks to Julie Chen & Susu Wong. 3. Finally, read this piece that came out last year that centers LGBTQ+ mental health and the AAPI experience.

For queer people, health challenges can be compounded by social stigma, discrimination, and violence, often resulting in delayed preventive health screenings. During #Pride, the American Academy of Nursing reflects on our work to advance health equity for LGBTQ+ communities. Since last year, the Academy has signed on to 16 amicus briefs opposing restrictions to gender-affirming care. Pansexual and Panromantic Awareness and Visibility Day is an opportunity to celebrate and recognize the identities, experiences, and contributions of pansexual and panromantic individuals.
