First resort. For US airlines in Mexico, that is, where the more their schedules change the more they remain the same. Three beach resort airports (CUN, SJD and PVR) account for 67% of the total seats currently published by ten US airlines in Q1 2025, which is close to half the total supply in the transborder market also counting Mexican carriers, and 99% dependent on the US POS (source OAG). These ten airlines enjoy a dominant 69% combined capacity share, but by the same token remain mostly indifferent, unwilling and/or unable to leverage their size advantage and flex their stonger muscle to expand into other cities outside their sandy comfort zone, where there is huge room for P2P growth. PAL is discontinuing flights from Manila to two cities in mainland China: Beijing and Guangzhou. PAL's last flight to Beijing will be on October 22, and to Guangzhou on October 8. However, flights to Shanghai Pudong will continue with one daily service. 🔴 The European Commission welcomes continued airline competition on the routes from Amsterdam to the US ✈ This, following the positive developments at Amsterdam airport enabling new entrant JetBlue Airways Corporation to continue operating at the airport over the IATA Summer 2024 Season ✔ 🔍 The Commission monitored the evolution of the market conditions at Amsterdam airport. Specifically, this concerned the degree of congestion of the airport and the operations of the Blue Skies joint venture between Air France-KLM Group, Delta and Virgin Atlantic, to identify any risk of serious and irreparable damage to competition for transatlantic traffic, in particular on the Amsterdam-New York route. 📜 The Commission stood ready to intervene with interim measures in case JetBlue did not secure appropriate access to Amsterdam airport for the IATA Summer 2024 Season. JetBlue has now improved its slot portfolio at Amsterdam airport. The latest Airports Council International World Airport Traffic Dataset confirmed 2023’s top 20 busiest airports in the world, with Hong Kong as the busiest cargo airport. It was followed by Memphis International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport. According to the dataset findings, global air cargo volumes in 2023 are estimated to have decreased 1.8% year-on-year to 115 million mt in 2023, an improvement from the preliminary data released by ACI in April which estimated global air cargo volumes to have dropped by 3.1% year-on-year to 113 million metric tons. Singapore Airlines is the world’s most awarded airline. Everything is intention. From day one when they formed the airline they set a target, and mindset within all their people that this has to be the best airline and every time all must deliver the best possible service. It’s a mindset they reset every day to ensure everyone is focused on achieving that. Providing the best possible service is not easy. If it’s easy, everyone will do it. But It can be done.
