Zomato launches PURE VEG FLEET 👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👌🏻 India has the largest percentage of vegetarians in the world, and one of the most important feedback we’ve gotten from them is that they are very particular about how their food is cooked, and how their food is handled. To solve for their dietary preferences, Zomato today launched a “Pure Veg Mode" along with a “Pure Veg Fleet” on Zomato, for customers who have a 100% vegetarian dietary preference. Pure Veg Mode will consist of a curation of restaurants that serve only pure vegetarian food, and will exclude all restaurants which serve any non-veg food item. #food #vegetarian #zomato #foodchoice

During Navratri, a time when many observe vegetarian diets, a mix-up with a Zomato order left customer Akash Gupta quite upset. He ordered vegetarian momos from Wow! Momo through Zomato but received non-vegetarian ones instead. Taking to X to voice his frustration, Akash highlighted how such an error was especially aggravating during a religious festival. "Hello Wowmomo4u , zomatocare zomato , I'm pure vegetarian and I ordered veg things but I got all nonveg items from your outlet , and the bad things is navratri going on how you can make this big mistake , there is clearly mention item detail," he wrote on X. While the post didn't go viral, Both Zomato and Wow! Momo were quick to respond to his complaint online. "This is one big mix-up. It's very serious and certainly not what we stand for. Mind sharing the order ID via DM so that we can resolve it ASAP," Zomato replied. On the other hand, Wow! Momo apologised and said, "We would never want something like this to be happen. Requesting you to please share your invoice and contact details so that we can get in touch with you." Read the full story here: 👇 https://lnkd.in/dXiFpmEs Update: In a recent clarification issued by Wow! Momo, it was explained that the customer had ordered a vegetarian combo from Wow! Momo through Zomato at around 12:30 AM, which was delivered to him. Due to a shortage of vegetarian stickers, the team inadvertently used a non-vegetarian sticker on the order, given the late hour of the night. The company said it had initiated a root cause analysis, which involved a complete inventory check, a review of the previous night's footage, and a dispatch checklist to confirm the order's contents. The investigation confirmed that vegetarian momos had been packed and mistakenly labelled with a non-vegetarian sticker. #zomato #navratri #food #momos #delivery #customer #chennai #indianstartupnews

In today’s era, linking everything with casteism has become very common. An example can be seen here in the latest article of Indian Express. https://lnkd.in/geecJ3Br A recent Zomato’s original idea of a new ‘Pure Veg’ mode came with colour-coded segregation. Founder-CEO Deepinder Goyal posted on X on March 19, “Pure Veg Mode will consist of a curation of restaurants that serve only pure vegetarian food… Our dedicated Pure Veg Fleet [in distinct green uniforms] will only serve orders from these pure vegetarian restaurants. This means that a non-veg meal, or even a vegetarian meal served by a non-vegetarian restaurant, will never go inside the green delivery box meant for our Pure Veg Fleet.” A journalist for Indian Express aligned this with casteism, stating that “vegetarian food is linked with purity and virtue — saatvik — and those eating meat are seen as tamsik, impure, too given to pleasures of the flesh. Meat eating is popularly, though inaccurately, linked with “lower” castes, and a particular religion”. Though, Zomato has indeed discontinued this service, I believe the primary motive behind its introduction was to guarantee that pure vegetarians received food solely from vegetarian restaurants, thereby ensuring that non-vegetarian food is not cooked on the same utensil as vegetarian food. That’s it. Isn’t it this simple? But media and newspapers, in order to make it an issue, connected it with ‘lower caste’, pollutants, impure, etc. I do not agree that only lower caste people eat non-vegetarian food. Is it? Or people who eat non-vegetarian food become untouchable! Why is everything linked with casteism, the manipulation of minds, and the creation of diversions and conflicts among people? This is another example of brainwashing the people.

𝐙𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐨'𝐬 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐞: 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐕𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭. Zomato, a food delivery app in India, is launching a new feature for vegetarians. "Pure Veg Mode" highlights restaurants with only vegetarian options, and "Pure Veg Fleet" uses separate delivery drivers and boxes to ensure no contact with non-vegetarian food. This caters to the large vegetarian population in India and their specific dietary needs. Zomato plans to expand with more specialized fleets based on customer requests. With a large population adhering to strict vegetarian diets, this initiative offers several positive impacts: 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Vegetarian consumers will appreciate the focus on ensuring their dietary needs are met, offering peace of mind and potentially increasing order frequency. 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲: The separate delivery system builds trust by eliminating the risk of cross-contamination. This transparency can be a deciding factor for many vegetarians. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Zomato positions itself as a leader in understanding and respecting diverse dietary preferences. This can attract new customers and establish a competitive edge. 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡: The success of this initiative could lead to the creation of specialized fleets for other dietary needs, expanding Zomato's reach and revenue potential. #zomato #vegetarian #boldmoves Zomato
