🏑 England and Great Britain Hockey has penned a three-year partnership with UK public broadcaster Channel 4, covering the International Hockey Federation (FIH) 🎥The deal will see free-to-air (FTA) coverage of all England men’s and women’s games air on the network until 2027. 📺 Under the new agreement, matches will broadcast on the network’s linear channels and streaming services, as well as on YouTube. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ePPfgnxJ

🔴 18-match simultaneous mode: 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁. The new Champions League format meant that the final round of the group stage took place at the same time: 18 matches deciding the league standings, promotions, play-offs (and big money), kicked off at roughly the same moment. In addition to the "classically" broadcast matches (team X vs team Y), some broadcasters added 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲, with screen/stadium switching managed by the broadcaster, usually following a goal ⚽ (audio signal) or a developing pitch controversy. ➡️ While multi-stream broadcasting is already common, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 it's been used on such a scale (18 matches at once) in the Champions League. ❌ Multi-Stream vs Multi-Device I tested the viewing experience on 2 different devices: 1️⃣ multi-stream on my #laptop and 2️⃣ the 🇪🇸 FC Barcelona vs Atalanta Bergamo 🇮🇹 match on a #projector. Here are my "feelings": ➡️ The rapid pace of switching between screens (64 goals!) made me feel like consuming a "highlights live" format rather than "match live" itself. ➡️ The live updates to the league table attached (who gets relegated, what position, etc.) were definitely engaging and this held my attention the most as time went on. Really enjoable. ➡️ In my case, the #Latency was noticeable: despite using the same provider, the live match (classic stream) was delayed compared to the same match shown in the multi-stream (goals appeared on the multi-stream a few seconds earlier).
