❌ NO: There are no credible reports of Haitian immigrants stealing, harming or eating pets or local wildlife in Springfield, Ohio, or elsewhere. City officials debunked this claim and said there's no evidence to support it. ✔️ The photo was taken in Columbus, Ohio, not Springfield, and there's no evidence that the person pictured is a Haitian immigrant or that he killed or ate the goose. 🤔 If a post evokes a strong reaction, pause and consider the source and evidence before sharing it. • A post on X reads, “Springfield is a small town in Ohio. 4 years ago, they had 60k residents. Under Harris and Biden, 20,000 Haitian immigrants were shipped to the town. Now ducks and pets are disappearing.” It includes an image of a Black man carrying a goose carcass while walking down what appears to be a residential street. The News Literacy Project has added the label, “NO EVIDENCE.”

The acceptance of words from people who aren't journalists as "news" boggles the mind. Keep up the good work.
