✨ A couple of days ago I placed a stellar candidate that was leaving a small company after 10 years tenure to a MUCH larger company with a national footprint and great benefits. This was a more or less a lateral move in compensation...but that wasn't his focus. His focus which has now resulted in excitement, was to work with a more progressive team that offered career advancement with great 401k and profit sharing benefits. DONE! ✅ His response, "I owe you BIG!". My response, "No you don't, this is my job and I love to do it!" His happiness is my reward. So moral of the story is...BIG. Not owing me BIG, but looking at the BIGGER picture for yourself. Dream BIG! 💫 💥 Follow: Audra Baker Follow: Tiello #recruiterlife #recruiter #electricalconstruction #electricalrecruiter

For nonprofits looking to get better results out of their hiring strategies, it's worth considering how job post timings can affect who chooses to apply. Certain times of year are much preferable to job seekers, such as fall and January in particular. While these may be popular times because of the quirks of the education calendar, new grads entering the job market means more organizations are willing to hire during that time, which in, turn, means more people are going to be actively searching for a job during those key times. For non-profit leaders and HR managers everywhere, keeping an eye on macro trends can help your organization find the right talent at the right time. #NonprofitLeadership #Hiring #HR #NonprofitOperations

As staff encounter and engage employers in Bedford - Sackville, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM), and surrounding areas, including Mount Uniacke, our Employer Engagement Specialist came across the following post by Adithyan RK, Forbes Human Resource Council about eight months ago that contains important timbits for all employers to keep in mind today: - 👻 Ghosting Candidates: 32% of employers reported being ghosted by candidates who had accepted a job offer but did not show up for their first day of work. While it is debatable whether it is right or wrong, it is important to understand the reasons candidates back out from a job offer after accepting it: 💰 Better Offer: A tempting job offer with a higher salary, better benefits, dream location, or perfect fit can overshadow the original offer 💼 Company Reputation: Negative info like poor reviews, scandals, or financial instability can make candidates run for cover 👨👩👦 Personal Circumstances: Unexpected situations, from health issues to family emergencies, cast a dark cloud over starting the new job 📑 Job Misrepresentation: Different roles or responsibilities than expected can make candidates vanish in an instant 🔄 Counteroffer Temptation: A lucrative counteroffer from their current employer lures candidates back 🚚 Relocation Woes: Moving challenges like high costs, long commutes, or scarce housing make candidates disappear 🧩 Culture Fit: A deeper reflection or interactions revealing a mismatch in company culture could lead to a silent departure #HR #Recruitment #Retention #Access #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion

🌟 Just a quick thought based on some recent executive searches that we have managed. Don’t rule out overqualified candidates—they might just be your organization’s secret weapon! 🌟 Too often, we overlook candidates with extensive experience, assuming they won’t be satisfied with the role or salary. But overqualified candidates can bring invaluable expertise and a passion for mission-driven work. Whether they’re seeking a lifestyle change or looking to finish their career with purpose, these candidates can help you take your nonprofit to the next level. Just make sure you screen for key factors: salary expectations, family support, and their readiness to be hands-on. The right hire isn’t always about matching the role—sometimes, it’s about the impact they can make. #NonprofitHiring #OverqualifiedCandidates #TalentAcquisition #NonprofitLeadership #MissionDrivenWork #SocialImpact #HiringTips #LeadershipDevelopment #ExecutiveSearch
