Thanks to Oberlin College for writing about Newsreel and our Kickstarter campaign 🚀 Two of Newsreel's founders, Jack Brewster and Justin Cruz, graduated from Oberlin. "In a world where information overload leads to news avoidance, we aim to make staying informed easier and more engaging for the younger generation," said Brewster, who has worked as a politics reporter for Forbes, and written for Time, The Wall Street Journal, Vice, Newsweek, and Fortune. https://lnkd.in/ghpzm4w8

Often, you hear how #news leaders want to see how you handle breaking news. I’ve learned that how you handle a human interest story is just as important. What questions should you ask? How will your questions make them feel? How do you make them more comfortable? How can I tell their story in a fair and accurate way? These are all questions that are so important as a #reporter. Human interest stories are sometimes more impactful than spot news. I treat every story with that same importance. Excited for this upcoming special report on a quite amazing hockey player. Shoutout to Alex Laitala for making this story come to life.

One of the biggest lies being told on repeat now by mainstream media, corporate America, and politicians is to be your unique self and never emulate proven success. Media wants you to continually create useless fodder for their ad sales, corporate America doesn’t want any small business to just do what actually works and what has worked for them, and politicians want to divide by claiming we all are selfish little islands that gain nothing from traditions, norms, and being together in cohesive family units. You can see it in nonsense like this. Platforms and agencies are telling businesses that doing what works is very bad and to just find your own unique voice. That’s an expensive and foolish way to fail. For less than 1% being unique works. For the rest leveraging proven strategies, tactics, and platform-specific best practices is the only way. Why is nobody else saying that anymore? MrBeast says his copycats won't succeed, and experts agree https://lnkd.in/g-QsWTx9

If you sell to creators through cold outreach... Address these 3 questions as soon as possible: 1️⃣ What's in it for the creator? 2️⃣ What's in it for their community? 3️⃣ What's in it for your company? A lot of businesses tackle 1 & 2, but conveniently forget 3... 😅 3 is where trust is built; how do YOU benefit? Creators are skeptical, always thinking: "What's the catch?" 🤔 "This sounds too good to be true" 😰 Break through the noise by discussing how everyone wins... not just the creator.
