Dexter Tilo discusses in the Human Resource Director's article "Revealed: The top ‘must-haves’ in workplaces worldwide" about how paid time off and competitive pay have emerged as essential "must-haves" in workplaces worldwide, according to a recent poll by Kellanova. The survey, which gathered insights from 3,500 respondents across 6 countries, revealed that 64% prioritize PTO, while 60% emphasize competitive pay. Other critical factors include opportunities for growth and development (58%), equity, diversity, and inclusion (58%), and creating an environment where employees can bring their best selves to work (51%). The report highlights that job seekers universally prioritize aspects that enhance their personal careers and well-being at work. Additionally, prospective employees consider factors beyond personal benefits, such as organizational reputation and impact. About 40% of respondents value a company's track record in philanthropy and commitment to sustainability, while 39% assess whether the organization is held in high regard, and 37% consider the availability of a hybrid office environment. Intrigued by the changing workforce landscape? You're not alone! Our Talent Trends 2024 report “The Expectation Gap” uncovers another crucial element: the increasing desire for autonomy. The majority of employees (71%) surveyed in the Netherlands would decline a promotion to maintain a healthy work-life balance. This sends a clear message: trust your team and empower them with flexible work options. Here's why it matters: When employees feel trusted to manage their workload, it fosters a sense of ownership and ultimately leads to higher satisfaction and productivity. However, a concerning trend has emerged: As companies enforce stricter in-office policies, we're seeing a rise in employee dissatisfaction and a higher turnover rate. This emphasises the need for clear communication and a focus on employee well-being. Want to learn more about your workforce expectations? Our report dives deeper into this trend and offers actionable strategies.
