Some key differences from speaking to Pharmacy owners on my trip to 🇹🇷 compared to the 🇬🇧 1. In 🇹🇷 around 70-80% of medications are available without a prescription, including certain antibiotics, compared to 🇬🇧 where only about 10-20% of medications can be purchased OTC. The rest require a prescription from a GP or specialist. 2. 🇹🇷 has a pharmacy market that is 90% independent pharmacies, with almost no large chains. - In 🇬🇧, around 60-70% of pharmacies are part of large chains.

#Relate with yourself 😊 How many pharmacists have experienced a situation where a patient insists on buying the brand mentioned in the prescription, which is not available in the pharmacy or is sold out, even though we explain that we can substitute it with another brand containing the same active ingredient? And when finally, we manage to arrange the original brand for them, they realize it is expensive and then are okay with purchasing any other substitute, which is cheaper 😅. #Pharmacists #DailyExperiences

I have worked on the MAH´s side, I have worked on the manufacturer/wholesaler´s side, now I am managing a pharmacy with one hand and pushing regulatory paper with the other. (Vt ka "Kakuke" / Колобок)
So, in Estonia there is a system where all human prescriptions are logged. All digital prescriptions are logged when issued by doctor and all paper prescriptions are logged (some doctors still think that this is not done) at the time of sales at the pharmacy. So, the thing is - some doctors write prescriptions for OTC. It is not possible to sell anything on these prescriptions (at least with the sales program Noom). I still do not get why this is done. I can see 2 possible reasons: 1) doctors do not know that low dose aspirin and iron+folic acid and b-group vitamins are OTC products without possibilities for Rx sales (nor compensation) 2) doctors wish to leave a note at the prescription center that a patient is taking this-and-this product for later reference (or for the purpose of any possible statistics). Anyway, whatever the reason, the prescriptions for OTC products always cause confusion at the pharmacy. And take up valuable time of the patient and pharmacists (who always check - has there sth. changed, is it possible to sell the product with prescription - I mean, it is totally possible to have such products on the market as Rx, even Rx and OTC at the same time - this is just not routinely done; and it is theoretically possible to register an entirely new Rx product for every OTC, I guess; but for the eyes of the pharmacist - they detect instantly the product name behind the active substance + dose combination, and normally it seems like an obvious mistake). In Estonia - OTC product sales are not logged in any state systems. I propose to always leave a comment when prescribing such products: either "is this OTC?" or "just for reconciliation purpose" or similar.

💡 Did you know? When people have the right information at their fingertips, they can make better choices and feel truly valued. Here are two cost-saving options that many are unaware of: • $4 Generic Prescription Drug Lists Major pharmacies offer generic medications at just $4! This applies to generic prescriptions and they usually range from $4 to $40, depending on dosage and supply. This is a huge cost-saving opportunity for common prescriptions like blood pressure meds or antibiotics. Yet, so many people don't even know it exists. Ask your pharmacy if your medication is available on this list. • Direct-to-Patient Prescription Program I personally use the Synthroid Delivers Program For those on thyroid medication, Synthroid Delivers allows direct ordering, cutting out the middleman and providing potential savings and convenience for patients. If you or someone you know takes Synthroid, this program could make managing health more affordable and simpler. Check to see if your current prescriptions offer a direct ship program. Happy consumers are informed consumers.. Empowering people with the right knowledge = better health choices + cost savings. 💊📊 #CustomerService #CostSavings #HealthBenefits #TransparencyMatters #EmpowerConsumers

Prefilled syringes are now the primary container of choice for most parenteral drug delivery systems. This is due to a number of factors – chief amongst them the greater medication safety and increased convenience from using a prefillable device. Read our blog post: https://bit.ly/3yYWdxz
