Newton Design is using a hybrid design approach for the C-5M Fuselage Trainer (FuT). Critical functional parts, such as the cargo door, ramp, visor, and adjacent fuselage sections will be actual aircraft parts removed from a donor C-5. The majority of the simulator structure and the positioning system will be designed and manufactured in-house. We are almost finished removing pieces from the donor aircraft. All donor aircraft parts should be at our facility by the end of the week. The critical design review is scheduled for later this year.

Very impressive, I was there when the visor and cab came off and was curious how you would get it back to your facility. I see it was cut into several pieces.

Add a dose of realism to the CDR and make sure there is an option to have the side doors droop on a regular basis. #C5M #SuperGalaxy #FRED

I have a ton of flight time on 70-0451 before her retirement. Very happy to see that aircraft going good use as a C-5M Fuselage Trainer in support of the warfighter.

Interesting….If you guys want to talk to someone who actually knows what a C-5 can do and knows what to do with it…I’d love to tell you, free of charge.
