Prioritizing brain health is a job for every age. 🧠 There are plenty of ways to promote good brain health starting with staying physically active. 💪 Regular exercise can help you with thinking, learning, problem-solving and balancing your emotional state. Studies even show that those who are physically inactive are found to be twice as common to experience cognitive decline than those who are physically active. #brainhealth #brain #healthyhabits #brainboost #brainpower #staysharp #mindandbody #mentalwellbeing

Keeping Your Brain Healthy The brain cannot only recover from damage; it can reorganize itself and there are exciting new treatments that promote neuroplasticity. For example, the brain can go about its reorganization and recover function thanks to its owner’s cognitive reserve. Cognitive reserve seems to allow people to accomplish tasks in different ways and cognitive reserve can be built up through participating in things like continued learning and engagement in challenging leisure-time activities. Brain health and physical movement are closely linked together. Here's how. ⤵️ 🧠 Neurotransmitter regulation: Physical activity stimulates the release of mood-elevating neurotransmitters such as endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine. 🧠 Stress reduction: Exercise naturally reduces cortisol levels. Regular physical activity promotes relaxation and reduces feelings of anxiety and tension. 🧠 Brain structure and function: Physical movement promotes the growth of new neurons, enhancing cognitive function, learning, and memory. About Our Brain * Debunking the Left Brain vs. Right Brain Myth, Understanding the Truth About Brain Function, and Embracing Good Brain Health The common belief that people are either left-brained (logical) or right-brained (creative) is a myth. While the brain is divided into two hemispheres, which process information differently, both sides work together through interconnected nerve fibers. Research, including a 2013 study using MRI scans, has shown no evidence that one hemisphere is dominant over the other. Each hemisphere contributes uniquely to various functions, such as the left aiding in mathematics and the right in spatial awareness and context understanding. Maintaining brain health involves physical exercise, proper nutrition, mental stimulation, and adequate sleep. Activities like puzzles, reading, and learning new skills can enhance cognitive function, while a balanced diet and regular aerobic exercise support overall brain health. Avoiding smoking, managing blood pressure, and maintaining healthy blood sugar levels also contribute to long-term brain vitality. https://lnkd.in/gP9W_bNb #brain

🧠 Elevate Your Brain Health 💪 Research reveals that even a few thousand steps a day can lead to larger brain volume and potential neuroprotective effects 🌟 Brain volume is closely tied to overall brain health. Maintaining or increasing brain mass through regular exercise is key! 🏃♀️ ➡ Moderate levels of physical activity, even walking fewer than 4,000 steps daily can have a positive impact on brain health 🚶♀️ ➡ Moderate to vigorous exercise, whether it's walking, running, or playing sports, exhibit larger brain volume compared to those less active 🏋️♂️ ➡ Moderate to vigorous activity increases brain mass in crucial regions like the hippocampus (memory) as well as gray matter (information processing) Exercise isn't just for the body, get out there, take those steps, and prioritise your brain health! #brainhealth #exercise #mindpower #healthandwellness #worklifeharmony FocusCore Japan David Sweet, Ph.D. Simon Jelfs Jonathan Cant Thomas Bangert Jonathan Yuki Fujinari

Sunday Brain Workout Improve your brain health in 5 minutes or less “I’m too busy,” is no excuse. Everyone can find 5 extra minutes. Increase your optimism Optimism and Anxiety are at war in your brain. Whichever one wins will change your brain structure forever. Scientists have reported that optimistic people have more activity in the front part of the cingulate gyrus (region that processes emotions and behavior) and orbitofrontal cortex (region of the brain that helps make high level decisions). Scientists have also reported that these areas of the brain may be hypoactive (not working properly) in depressed individuals. Because of neuroplasticity (the ability of brain cells to change) the power of positive thinking may help protect against depression. What you can do in 5 minutes or less: Daily practice of optimism. Recognize the single best thing that happened today and recite it aloud. For another 18 brain workouts, check out https://lnkd.in/eeJG_-qM
