Why is a good attitude important in the hotel industry? In the hotel industry, while having high quality skills is vital, if someone has a poor or negative attitude, there is no doubt that they will struggle to interact with people and craft a long career in the service sector. At the end of the day, the hotel industry is about connecting with people, whether they are your guests or co-workers. Of course, skills and experience can be taught and learnt, but attitude can't, and this is why it is such a critical element for us at Eden Hotels Limited. In the hotel industry, a person with a good attitude is a pleasure to be around, and that's good for our guests and co-workers alike. As such, having a positive, enthusiastic, cheerful, and generous outlook on life will translate into someone who cares about their team, listens to instructions from their managers and is able to communicate with guests with professionalism. A bad attitude is like a flat tyre. If you don't change it, you won't get anywhere. Your managers or supervisors can't change your attitude; it has to be a personal choice.

From the time I started working at Fairmont Ambassador Seoul, there are couple things that I have realized that are very crucial at hotel industry: - Team members need to work together cohesively to deliver top-notch service to guests. - Collaboration and teamwork among hotel staff can lead to increased efficiency in daily operations. When team members understand each other's roles and responsibilities, tasks can be completed more effectively and in a timely manner. - The most important part, Effective communication is key in the hotel industry to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction. Being a team player and understanding other team members' communication styles can help avoid misunderstandings and improve overall communication within the team. - A positive work environment where team members support and respect each other contributes to high employee morale. This, in turn, leads to increased job satisfaction and productivity. In summary, being a team player and understanding other team members in the hotel industry is essential for providing exceptional guest experiences, promoting efficiency, solving problems effectively, facilitating communication, and maintaining high employee morale. #accor #hospitality #tourism #team #fairmont

Owner : LA ESPERANZA Resort & Villa in Granada, Spain || Publisher & Editor : TRAVELIFE Magazine in Tokyo, Japan || Director : Nagatacho Ohka, Japan's most exclusive gastronomic experience
ABOUT TRULY GREAT HOTEL MANAGERS This interview with an executive of The Peninsula Hotels that touches on their philosophy for hiring managers resonates with my own. If a hotel is able to hire a professional who trained at one of the world's top hotel schools, then the chance of getting the real deal hospitality package of skills and attitude is very high. Outside of these elite group of hotel professionals, it's like winning a lottery to hire someone with an authentic sense of hospitality. After interviewing so many potential candidates to replace my amazing general manager Napo -- yes, I won the lottery that time -- who has been with La Esperanza Granada since Day 1 but is soon embarking on the next chapter of his life, I realized that a real sense of service and a talent for organization is what I should be looking for and professional skills are desirable but only secondary. The skills can be learned via a hotel consultant over several weeks or months, but the real attitude is either there or not. And if you are the manager, it cannot be there only for eight hours of the working day. At least not if you are aiming for greatness.

How to be a megalomaniac Emperor!! sorry..... Hotel General Manager!! 1. Prioritize your ego and personal agendas over the well being of your employees. This will lead to widespread demoralization and lack of motivation but no worries, this way you can push all the blame on why the hotel is not doing well to them and get to call them stupid in management meetings for the next few years of your employment contract! (mwahahahahaha - evil laugh 😃) 2. Create a culture of fear and silence, where your employees are hesitant to share their thoughts or challenge your decisions. This will reduce creativity, innovation, and problem solving, as your employees will be afraid to voice their concerns or propose new solutions. 3. Micromanage, take credit for others people's work and dismiss the contributions of team your employees as this can erode trust and team work within the departments. 4. Screw it up bad enough that your future successors will take forever to clean up your shit. Make a hole big enough that no one could possibly cover it back for the next 10 years......
