This past weekend, my team (Aaron Harrington, Arellys Tapia, Jando Granillo) and I participated in the Dartmouth Stock Pitch Competition, where we secured 1st place out of 150 teams worldwide. Our winning pitch focused on a long position on Vaxcyte Inc. (NASDAQ: PCVX), highlighting our analysis of PCVX's development pipeline and potential to dominate the PCV market with next-generation technology. Competing against esteemed institutions such as Columbia University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Dartmouth College, our team demonstrated a thorough understanding of the market and the ability to present a compelling investment case. (The event can be viewed at https://lnkd.in/d4cVAYds) This served as a robust affirmation of our belief in Vaxcyte's capacity to be a game-changer in the stagnant PCV vaccine market. Emerging as a significant force set to disrupt the market, equipped with cutting-edge technology and two standout PCV candidates - VAX-24 and VAX-31. Thank you to Dartmouth Investment and Philanthropy Program for putting the competition together, Druce Vertes and Alec Schaefer for taking the time to judge the competition, and BCG Undergraduate Investment Fund & the University of Houston, C. T. Bauer College of Business (University of Houston) for the continued support along the process. Will your startup be unfit for the market in 5 years? There's a 50% chance that this will be your fate...unless you take a forward thinking approach to what you are building right now. Edward A. Ipser, Jr. shared this exciting upcoming event for Fort Worth Innovators Forum coming up in just a couple of weeks. What: Choose Your Own Exit: De-pivot Your Way To Product-Market Fit When: Friday, June 14, 2024, Noon to 1PM Where: HSC/Next Joshua L. Brockway will be presenting... "Customer experience and market studies help, but here's the problem: they're already expired when you start operating. They won't help you get fit for what clients will want in 5, 10, or more years from now. What you need is to leave history behind, and turn to the future. In this eye-opening presentation, walk with Josh, a strategic foresight professional, into your startup's possible futures, and examine the blind spots that are hiding fatal risks and fantastic opportunities from you." PORTLAND STATE UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES TWO OPEN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT-RELATED POSITIONS: METRO REGION INNOVATION HUB The City of Sherwood Economic Development Office has been pleased to have participated in support of the growth of the Metro Region Innovation Hub during the past year or so. This included attending Hub planning and organizational development meetings organized by Portland State University which is on the frontline of developing new ideas, technologies and programming focused in large part on encouraging the growth of entrepreneurship and the commercialization of new innovations. The work of public institutions such as PSU is critical for the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in our region and for the growth of shared prosperity. The work of creating the Metro Region Innovation Hub was funded by Business Oregon, the state’s economic development agency, and other community partners and led by PSU. The Hub serves the tri-county Metro area in Oregon and will provide regional entrepreneurs from all sectors, backgrounds and business stages with access to existing resources in the form of networking, education and capital access to encourage the growth of innovation-based business. In my experiences as an Economic Development Practitioner, I have been honored to see the impact which public universities in Greater San Diego, for example, have had in spurring on innovation and new company formation. For that reason it is exciting to see this strong leadership initiative by PSU, Business Oregon, Greater Portland Inc and so many resource providers in the Greater Portland region to create our own Metro Region Innovation Hub. PSU has recently announced the opening to new positions which will provide on-going staff support to the Metro Portland Innovation Hub. If you know someone with an interest in these positions, it would be great if you could pass the announcement shown in these links to your contacts…or consider applying yourself! More information is available here: Hub Director: https://lnkd.in/ggYk3pTY Hub Navigators: https://lnkd.in/gtrNijQN If you would like to learn more about business growth opportunities in Sherwood, please reach out to me: Bruce Coleman, Economic Development Manager, City of Sherwood 503.625.4206 or at colemanb@sherwoodoregon.gov. We are developing large new commerce parks in Sherwood which can accommodate business needing 5000 SF and…. larger. Entrepreneurs are welcome in Sherwood !
