Education is an important ingredient to success. The US Army invests millions into the training and development of our Green Berets; but when they transition from service they are too often left to fend for themselves in preparing for the next chapter. Green Beret Foundation, and their President and CEO Charlie Iacono, believe every Green Beret has earned a paid for education post service. Charlie joined Fran Racioppi from the highlight event of 2024, the Stars and Stripes Classic; an epic lacrosse battle between Green Berets and Navy SEALS. Charlie shared his vision for the foundation, where it’s come from, the impact it’s made on Green Berets of every generation and how 2025 is set to become the most important year in its history as it increases investment in programs supporting the careers and health of transitioning operators. Leading non-profit organizations is hard. Leading one that lives up to the standard of the Green Beret is even harder. So Charlie explains what’s important to him, how he’s transforming the staff, why service is the foundation of the job, and how building relationships is critical to making an impact. 🔥 Introducing Blackbearing: A Brotherhood of Veterans & First Responders 🔥 At Blackbearing, we’re not just a community — we’re a global brotherhood. Modeled on the structure of motorcycle clubs (without the illegal activities), our mission is to build a worldwide network where veterans and first responders can count on each other, wherever they are. 🌍 Worldwide Network & Support. Our members are welcome at any chapter across the globe, creating a support structure / family and sense of belonging. Whether attending local meets or participating in large-scale international events, Blackbearing offers a space where you can reconnect with those who share your values and experiences in a productive, safe environment. ⚡ Mental Health & Retreats. We understand the unique challenges our members face, which is why we’ve established mental health support across the UK, including retreats and formal services. Our goal is to ensure every member has access to the help they need when they need it most and not from a faceless corporation. 🏞️ Adventure & Tactical Training. We’re excited to announce that Blackbearing has a dedicated training ground in Croatia, where members can come to hone their skills or learn new ones, veterans can rekindle the excitement and camaraderie of military life with like-minded individuals. It also serves as a perfect space for tactical training for established companies looking to re-sharpen their skill set, instructed by ex Tier 1 operators from the UK and EU. 🙏 A Spiritual Approach. With a focus on camaraderie, personal growth, and positive activities, Blackbearing incorporates a spiritual aspect that helps members reconnect with themselves and others. It’s not just about action—it’s about purpose. For veterans and first responders who are looking for more than just a club, Blackbearing offers a true community, support, adventure training, and the opportunity to grow and thrive. Interested? Reflecting on 9/11: From a Soldier’s Eyes 9/11. I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was on duty in the U.S. Army, watching in real-time as the world changed before my eyes. In a matter of hours, everything shifted—from routine training exercises to the harsh reality of a new kind of war. Watching It Unfold: - On September 11, 2001, like many of you, I was glued to a screen, witnessing the unimaginable. But instead of a conference room or a living room, I was in uniform, on duty, with a deep sense of responsibility weighing on my shoulders. - In those first moments, there was shock and disbelief. But soon after came resolve. Resolve to protect, to serve, and to stand with my brothers and sisters in arms. A Journey That Took Years: - It wasn’t until February 2007 that my deployment orders came through, and I was sent to Afghanistan. Five and a half years after 9/11, I found myself in a place that felt both distant and immediate. Distant in miles but immediate in purpose. - Boots on the ground, I saw first-hand the cost of conflict—both on the ground and in the hearts of my fellow soldiers. Every mission was a reminder of what brought us there and who we were defending. Why Remembering Matters: - 9/11 isn’t just a date; it's a reminder of our shared resilience. It’s about remembering those we lost, the sacrifices made, and the lessons learned. - As time moves on, it’s easy to let memories fade, but the significance of that day—and what followed—remains. We owe it to ourselves, and future generations, to remember. A Call to Reflect and Act: How do you choose to remember 9/11? What lessons have you carried with you in the years since? Let’s keep the conversation going—because remembering isn't just about looking back; it's about how we choose to move forward. #NeverForget #911Anniversary #VeteranVoices #Resilience #Reflection #ServiceAndSacrifice

Transitioning away from the Green Beret is the toughest challenge our Special Forces operators will ever face. The Green Beret Foundation is creating opportunity from that challenge with the Next Ridgeline 2.0 program. 🌟 Inspiring Transformation through Service to Veterans 🌟 At the SAM Center, we are a motivated, diverse, and blessed group who are committed to delivering on our mission. 🙏 Like it's summarized in Matthew 20:25-28, where Jesus tells his disciples that leaders should serve others, not exercise authority over people, at the SAM Center, "It is our mission to serve those who have served us." 👀 Our Vision? "All veterans will know they are loved and supported by a community that meets their needs." 💪 Through our purpose, "We exist to serve our military and veterans. We are the conduit of the community's love for our veterans. Our purpose is to provide for the basic mental and physical needs of our veterans." 🌟 Abiding in Our Values: • Respect: As our greatest demonstration of love, we shall respect our stakeholders for their service and sacrifice. • Dependable: We will be a dependable resource for our clients and the community. • Compassionate: We will have a compassionate heart in serving our community. 🙌 Thanks to the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton, our SAM Center Board of Directors this evening has been able to lean into the experience of respected and retired Walsh University President Richard Jusseaume through a series of Building Better Boards Training as "Everything rises and falls on leadership" as quoted by John C. Maxwell. 📈 Like any healthy organization's leadership does as part of the process of continuous improvement, we invest in our team to properly serve our veteran community, enhance our board's capability to grow and contribute through the various programs and services we offer, and build upon our competitive advantages which multiply the impact of our direct support dollars. 🌟 In closing, when a good leader awakens the depth of presence in another and encounters the sacredness and inner world of the other, leadership is truly transformational and healing. This transformation and healing is what we seek to best serve our veteran community! #SAMCenter #VeteransSupport #Leadership #CommunityService #TransformationalLeadership #VeteranCare

FORGED IN FIRE: THE BROTHERHOOD OF VIETNAM Of everything that followed me home from Vietnam, I am grateful for the brotherhood forged in combat. It is a bond more profound than mere friendship, one that few can understand unless they have lived it. The terrain was harsh in the jungles, and the weather was relentless. We faced not only the enemy but the weight of fear and uncertainty. Each day would bring its challenges—ambushes, the elements. In those dark moments, the camaraderie of my brothers gave us the strength to carry on. Our brotherhood was built on shared moments—terror, triumph, laughter, and sorrow. It represented the soldier beside you, ready to face danger, willing to risk everything for your safety. Trust becomes the glue that held us together. We learned we were not alone; we had each other, a family formed in the fire. This brotherhood means more than the battlefield. It gives purpose and a sense of belonging. It teaches sacrifice, loyalty, and the need to look after one another. These lessons stayed with us long after the guns fell silent. My buddies and I took this bond into civilian life, finding others who shared our struggles. Combat brotherhood is a testament to the human spirit. It demonstrates the capacity for empathy, even in darkness. We leaned on each other, shared our burdens, consoled losses, and celebrated victories—no matter how small. We built a support system that would last a lifetime, offering solace in despair and joy in reunion. Stand with me for the book launch of Vietnam Uncensored on November 11, Veteran’s Day.
