🚨 Two Young Lives Lost to Sudden Cardiac Arrest in the DMV 🚨 In just under two weeks, two young athletes tragically died on the football fields of Hopewell, VA, and Reisterstown, MD, due to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). As a father, a lifelong advocate for heart health, and someone who has spent my entire career in the cardiac diagnostic space, this hits incredibly close to home. Despite the availability of advanced technology and screening resources, these tragedies are a stark reminder that our communities are still vulnerable—and the silence on this issue is deafening. 📢 Where is the urgency? 📢 Where is the leadership? 📢 Why is this not getting the attention it deserves, especially in an election year? This is not just a health issue; it’s a public safety issue that demands immediate action. Our youth are at risk, and yet, mandatory heart screenings in schools are still not prioritized. In May, I launched the DMV Has A Heart initiative to address this very problem. We are working tirelessly to bring awareness and action to prevent these avoidable tragedies. But we can't do it alone. We need our community leaders, healthcare organizations, and politicians to step up and lead. Let’s not wait for the next tragedy. Let’s demand mandatory heart screenings in our schools NOW. For more information on how you can get involved, visit dmvhasaheart.org. Let’s protect our youth. Let’s act before it’s too late. #CardiacHealth #YouthSafety #DMVHasAHeart #PublicHealth #ElectionYear #Leadership Rebecca Love RN, MSN, FIELAmerican Heart AssociationAmerican College of CardiologyGlenn YoungkinHerman TaylorKarina LipsmanJude MabonéJoe PiraneoSara JuedesAaron ParkerBen Brodsky

#SouthSideDrive has once again provided #enlightenment #relevant to #Chicago's #AfricanX community, as only it does; due to the very #Awoke #Leadership of #Publisher, #YvetteMoyo. #ArtHeals is a truth proven by both the #BioSciences + the #SocialSciences, by means of countless research studies over several decades. This cover art of the current issue of South Side Drive, shows an intrinsically valuable nuance of the AfricanX community, #Globally! What we see hear is a wonderful depiction our very own #AfricanX version of #GenerationalWealth, in the form of powerful #Griot #StoryTelling, which has enabled US to not just #Survive, but also #Thrive, in a #EuroCentric #Society hell bent on keeping us from doing; to feed a voracious #whitesupremacist #Greed for #profit and #power at the #expense of US #AfricanDos and #Africanas! Consider the depth + breath of the historical story being told. We have an renowned local Media hero, #MonroeAnderson's, photograph of his sons, honoring the family's #BRILLIANTLY #Artistically #Gifted #Matriarch, #JoyceOwens, a #Yale graduate, by flanking, the portrait she created of her #Dapper, #GreatGrandFather, whose style any of us men would proudly emulate. Talk about Storytelling worth #Gold!!!
Publisher @ South Side Drive Magazine, Co-Founder/CEO, Real Men Charities and Real Men Cook, 2023 Leader for a New Chicago. (Field & MacArthur Foundation), CEO The Quarry Event venue, arts destination hub.
What an honor to pay tribute to the Monroe Anderson family with this cover of our South Side Drive Magazine’s Priority Health Month issue. Having recently lost his wife, the brilliant artist, teacher, and mother, Joyce Owens to Alzheimer’s Disease, Monroe photographed their sons flanking a rendering by their mother while a student at Yale, of her great grandfather. #SouthSideDrive #artheals #priorityhealthmonth www.SouthSideDriveMag.com
