FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Arcadian Opens Two New Offices in California   St. Louis, MO May 21, 2024 – Arcadian Infracom, an information infrastructure development company headquartered in St. Louis, MO, announces the opening of two new office locations in California. Its new governmental relations office is in Sacramento, blocks from the State Capitol, and its network operations and administrative headquarters is in the Bay Area community of San Ramon.  In February 2023, Arcadian and the State of California entered a public/private partnership under the Middle Mile Broadband Initiative with the State becoming the anchor customer on the California portion of Arcadian’s Los Angeles to Phoenix route. Construction on this route started in December 2023 with a groundbreaking in East Los Angeles. In November 2023 the State became the anchor customer on three additional routes, San Jose to Eureka, and the California portions of the San Jose to Reno and Barstow to Las Vegas routes. When completed in early 2027, these new routes will connect major data center hubs, subsea fiber landing stations and underserved local communities, forming a key part of California’s 10,000 mile Middle-Mile Broadband Initiative. Arcadian founder and CEO Dan Davis commented, “Arcadian has been a strong advocate of California’s mission to bring affordable broadband to all its residents, and our new California offices are evidence of our commitment to the success of the State’s Middle Mile Broadband Initiative. Exciting news for the Hamlet of Thorhild and MD of Bonnyville! Crews are hard at work on the Fiber to the Home project, bringing direct connections to approximately 250 homes and businesses through MCSnet's fiber network. 🏡💻 Thanks to additional broadband grant funding from the Universal Broadband Fund, MCSnet can expand our network and provide even more reliable internet access to these communities. CEO Jerico VanBrabant shares, "Building Fiber to the Home will make these communities scalable for future technologies and add another layer of internet reliability." Not only will residents in Thorhild benefit from this project, but other areas like Crane Lake, Aspen Grove Subdivision, Riverbend Subdivision, Whitetail Ridge Estates, and rural properties east of Cold Lake will also receive fiber connections. With the combination of fiber and new wireless technologies like GigAir, more customers will have access to gigabit speeds. A recent Encinitas, California budget highlights the infrastructure funding gap plaguing mid-size American cities. Despite fiscal responsibility and strategic planning, the city's finances underscore a massive disparity between the city’s revenue and its infrastructure needs. Total City Revenue vs. Infrastructure Needs: Encinitas showcases a commendable financial stance with FY 2023-24 revenues at $126.4M against expenditures of $119.3M, dedicating $14.2M to critical improvements. Yet, the city faces an overarching challenge – the cost of updating and maintaining their infrastructure is a towering $1.31B, signaling a significant gap between current capabilities and future aspirations. This scenario is not unique to Encinitas but echoes across mid-size American cities, spotlighting a broader, national challenge. The study intends to build upon public input, findings, and recommendations from previous relevant studies. West 38th Avenue has been identified as a corridor in need of investment through various previous projects, each with its own community outreach efforts and outcomes. The corridor study will begin by analyzing the feasibility and compatibility of these previous recommendations and current community needs. The study's intended outcome is to create a cohesive plan for the entire corridor that guides future capital improvement projects and adjacent development. We cannot “widen our way out of the problem”, but we must stop the bleeding. There’s a balanced approach for road improvements and multimodal. I envision an Orange County where diverse transportation options are readily available and effectively utilized. While I recognize the current scarcity of funding, I believe it is imperative to pursue this goal responsibly. Public-private partnerships offer a promising avenue to offset costs and expedite project timelines. The Sunshine Corridor initiative, with Universal’s significant land and financial contributions, exemplifies the potential of such collaborations. By diverting traffic from congested roadways and securing private investment, we can build a sustainable transportation network. Recognizing that transforming Orange County’s infrastructure is a long-term endeavor, I am committed to initiating progress now. While implementing multimodal solutions, we must concurrently address the critical issue of road improvements. The lack of urgency in addressing our deteriorating road conditions over the past four years is unacceptable. As our community continues to grow, our infrastructure must evolve accordingly. Colorado Opens Highway Right-of-Ways to Broadband Installation. Colorado communities and service providers looking to improve broadband access will have a new, accelerated and discounted option to help expand high-speed Internet access throughout the state. ...“Just as our transportation system creates vital connections for all Coloradans, we all need the modern connectivity of broadband to fully access opportunities and services. The Transportation Commission has heard the perspectives of local com- munities throughout the state as well as industry concerns, and the proposal that we approved today offers greater opportunities for broadband development, competes favorably with our neighboring states on costs, and meets the state’s existing legal obligations to care for the public land under our responsibility,” “Underserved communities have an urgent need for improved broadband access, and today’s access fee plan offers another option for high-speed internet development throughout Colorado.
