🚨 When the Unexpected Happens, Dashcams Tell the Truth 🚨 Recently, a shocking incident captured on an alternative manufacturer's camera showed a front-seat passenger grabbing the wheel of a taxi on the 412 near Taunton Road, causing it to collide with a tractor-trailer. Even more disturbingly, the man attempted to hit the truck again before exiting the vehicle. Thanks to the dashcam, footage of the vehicle's interior and exterior can be seen. The result? Truth over speculation: There's no room for false narratives when video evidence reveals precisely what happened. Accountability made simple: With clear footage, law enforcement quickly identified the culprit and the charges they now face. Driver exoneration: In situations where the driver might otherwise be blamed, the dashcam ensures justice prevails. This case underscores dashcams' vital role in protecting individuals and clarifying incidents that could raise questions in the insurance industry. Having video evidence removes any uncertainty, whether it's staged accidents, fraudulent claims, or puzzling behaviors like the one described. At Nexar, we take pride in providing solutions that empower drivers, investigators, and insurers to get to the truth. #Dashcams #InsuranceInnovation #FleetSafety #Telematics #RoadSafety https://lnkd.in/d8j8v7Hz

This horrible incident is a powerful reminder of why in-cabin-facing dash cams are no longer a 'nice to have' for rideshare drivers, taxi drivers, and anyone in passenger transportation- they're a 'must have'. In this case, the value of a dash cam is clear: undeniable evidence of the truth and proof of liability. But beyond documenting what happens, these cameras also play a crucial preventative role. Passengers who may enter a vehicle with harmful intentions often think twice when they see a dash cam recording their every move. Drivers interact with countless passengers every day and deserve the peace of mind that: a) They have a layer of protection between themselves and the passenger. b) If something as terrible as this incident does occur, there will be no uncertainty about what happened.

Why it matters: More than 1 million vehicles were stolen in the U.S. in 2023, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB). The big picture: EVs are much less likely to be snatched than gas-powered cars, according to experts at the NICB and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Although vehicle crime is low across West Mercia, every winter the force receives a number of reports from drivers who have had their cars stolen after leaving the engine running, while they wait in the warmth of their home for it to heat up and defrost the windscreen. Some vehicle owners nip inside for just a few seconds to collect a bag or finish the last mouthful of their breakfast coffee - but that’s all the time an opportunist thief needs. To ‘freeze out’ the thieves, West Mercia Police advises motorists to: • Clear windscreens with de-icer and a scraper • Sit in vehicles while the heater de-mists the windscreen Drivers who ignore this advice are taking big risks. Thieves will drive around residential areas looking for likely targets - when they spot a vehicle with its engine left running on a drive or outside a home, it’s there for the taking. One person will be dropped off, gets into the target vehicle and simply drives away. Many of the vehicles are never recovered, and some - especially high value models such as Mercedes, BMW and Audi - may be shipped overseas. It is also worth remembering if your car is stolen when keys have been left in it, you may find your insurance will not cover you. If your house keys are stolen along with your car, your home is then vulnerable too. So, this winter, don’t give criminals an easy ride by leaving your car running unattended.

🚛People you share the road with👀🤦 Reason 397,844 to have an accurate dashcam. With the number of these scams and even crashes in general that occur, we have to realize we have significant issues on our highways. I show these events every single day so we're certainly not at a shortage of these events occuring. We have issues on our highways and they're getting worse. ➡️Dashcams like Motive protect you, your business, and especially your driver when these events and scam crashes occur. Motive could've given you better image quality but their Omnicam could've provided a better big picture of what occured to the right side of this vehicle before this interaction. ➡️The second part of this is notifying fleet management that a real crash occured so Motive's first responder system can get your driver help if needed and you can begin working on mitigating the claim immediately. The faster you begin to work a claim typically the better the outcome. Staged accidents targeting commercial vehicles, often referred to as "swoop and squat" fraud, is when a vehicle pulls in front of a truck and brakes to cause a rear-end collision. "Operation Sideswipe" has uncovered extensive staged accident schemes involving trucks. As of December 2024, it has led to charges against 63 people, including attorneys and law firms, for orchestrating fraudulent collisions to submit false insurance claims. The conspirators staged at least 22 fake collisions in the New Orleans area, with participants pretending to be drivers and making up accident details. #riskmitigation #exposuremanagement #visibilitymatters #subrogation #fleetmanagement #dashcams

📹 Businesses should install a dash cam to protect their business from false insurance claims. Commercial dash cam footage is now widely accepted by most insurance companies as evidence in a claim to help speed up the process and save a small fortune in admin costs trying to work out who is at fault. Every fleet manager or business owner knows that trying to make an insurance claim can often be a very tedious and difficult task. The first port of call for an insurer is to figure out who was to blame for the damage incurred as a result of an accident. Unfortunately, in this day and age there are lots of fake claims and insurance fraud scams that can make a claim even more difficult. 👉 It is hard to fathom but there is still a very high number of uninsured drivers on the road potentially crashing and then leaving the scene. It is extremely important to do everything you can as a business to protect their drivers and assets. it has been proven that most of the time having dashcams will exonerate your drivers We only use dash cams in high definition quality. This allows any recorded clips to be used for potential insurance claims or disputes. All footage recorded by the dash cam can be stamped with date, time and even location for accuracy and authenticity. The dash cam can be accessed any time live and we can add additional cameras all around the vehicles including AI and ADAS features 🌐 Visit our website my-fleet.com for more information or call us on 1300 836 149 #dashcams #cameratelematics #cameragpstracking
