Happy Monday Appian Folks 🌞 I woke up today to an Appian environment upgrade and it made me super curious to write an article about some best practices while upgrading your Appian environment. Happy reading below 😊 : 1. Appian is backward compatible, so new release wont affect the current projects and sites should run as usual post-release . However, it is also possible for users to be affected by the upgrade, like any UI change. so here are few points to follow- a. Review the release notes b. Identify and Alert stakeholders if any significant change c. Make a plan to test and deploy the release 2. Upgrade timeline: Make sure to release or upgrade the environment on non business hours like weekends. Also, first upgrade the Test environment and do the required smoke and regression testing, then, do the Production, followed by, Development(DEV) environment release within next 7-10 days on any non business hours. Ending the release with DEV environment gives ability to do the hotfix without putting extra development efforts. 3. Determine the test cases and validation procedures before the release. Test cases may include smoke testing, regression testing, automated testing provided by Appian. 4. If required to reschedule the release, raise the request on Appian Forum. 5. If still there are some issues with the latest release, Worry not, Appian will help you resolve and give a workaround on the same, but still if the issue persist, the upgrade will be rolled back to pre upgrade version. Hi, Role: Appian Admin/SME Location: Tampa, FL- Remote Duration: Fulltime JOB DETAILS Required Experience Hands on 6+ experience on Appian Upgrades and hotfix installations. Establishes and maintains user accounts, assigns file permissions and establishes password and account policies. 3 Installs, upgrades, configures, tests, maintains and supports operating system software in a production environment. Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/ configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. Review's performance logs and monitors system performance. Troubleshoots and resolves system hardware, software and communications problems; creates shell programs and utility scripts; performs configurations and adjustments to enhance database file capacity; performs automated and manual backup and restore processes. Installs, configures, and tests software packages. Participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values. Provides user support and may conduct user software and hardware training to formulate technology solutions and ensure the effective safeguarding and sharing of enterprise data. ! Evaluates requests for hardware and software; researches and recommends solutions to technology needs, compatible with the client's technology architecture and infrastructure and resource constraints.
