Donald Trump’s victory promises to shake up U.S. energy and environmental policy, with sweeping implications for oil production, offshore wind development and electric vehicle sales. The win empowers him to deliver on his campaign pledges to go after climate policies he has dubbed the “green new scam” while reorienting the federal government toward pumping more crude and building more power plants. Though some efforts would face long odds on Capitol Hill — where many of Trump’s fellow Republicans would oppose a wholesale repeal of the Inflation Reduction Act’s energy and manufacturing tax credits — Trump can use his executive authority to put other changes in motion. Oil and gas companies are set to be prime beneficiaries. https://lnkd.in/erXmxSVm

BREAKING NEWS: This week, Central Electric Power Cooperative and The Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina, Inc. filed a declaration in support of two separate lawsuits filed by the NRECA and a coalition of 23 state attorneys general, including S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson. The lawsuits challenge the legality of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s new regulations on fossil fuel power plants. “South Carolina is one of the fastest growing states in the nation. We urgently need more electricity, not less,” said Central CEO Rob Hochstetler. “These regulations make it harder for electric cooperatives to keep up, threatening our ability to keep the lights on for residents and businesses across our state.” “While we share the EPA’s goal of protecting the environment, we can’t support a plan that jeopardizes the reliability of South Carolina’s electric grid while driving up power bills,” said Mike Couick, CEO of the Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina. “We need a realistic path forward.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/ewjttXNx.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) voted 12 to 2 to institute its new fuel policies that could add $1.82 to a gallon of gasoline and eventually stop the sale of gasoline in the Golden State. We have to be very careful of what California does, as many of its policies could become policies of the rest of America. Next year will be a very important year when it comes to liquid motor fuels policy. #TAGConsultingGroupLLC #TAGConsultingGroup.

On November 8 the California Air Resources Board (CARB) will vote on proposed amendments to the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) program. The LCFS has been critical to reducing transportation emissions in California, which account for the largest share of emissions by sector. The LCFS also incentivizes innovative, cost effective decarbonization within the transportation value chain. The LCFS has also helped build out the charging infrastructure that California will need to meet its zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) goals.
