TECHNOLOGY AVAILABLE! Sensorless Drive for Heavy-Duty, Hybrid Electric Vehicles (No. 1875) The key inventive feature of this technology is a quasi-sliding mode observer (QSMO) used to estimate the rotor position from extended back electromagnetic quantities. The QSMO provides sensorless interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drive. Technology Description This technology includes drive systems with a slide mode observer for estimating a rotor position in a motor; resulting estimated rotor positions showed zero phase lags and were highly robust to fast load variations. The quasi-sliding mode observer demonstrated better performance over conventional sliding mode observers after validation on a 150 kW IPMSM drive system under various conditions (e.g. four quadrant operation and complete torque reversal). The sensorless drive system showed good transient performance over a wide load range with no degradation under abrupt load change. In times of increasing electrical functions and shrinking installation space, we offer a new vehicle electronics solution: Our PowerSentinel has a particularly small size. With its low quiescent current of less than 100 µA, it also maximizes range in #EV. 🔋 The switch is used in all types of vehicles wherever certain sub-networks require protection up to safety level ASIL D. These can be redundant vehicle electrical systems for #autonomousdriving, but also safety-critical loads such as electric brakes or steering ("X-by-wire") or electronic fuses (eFuse). The PowerSentinel can carry peak currents of up to 1000 A in the low-voltage network and continuously 200 A. We combine all our expertise and patents in the PowerSentinel.
