🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🌈 This month, and every month, diversity and inclusion are top of mind for myself and for Roc Search 💗 We all know that the tech space is a field that shapes every aspect of our world and is engrained in every single industry 💻 Heck, even farmers (the field you'd imagine is furthest away from the tech space) are using technologies like GPS, automation, and auto-steering to maximize crop yields 🍅 Because these technologies shape the world we live in, and touch the lives of every human being, and are inevitably a reflection of their creators to some degree (hello AI) it is imperative that these technologies are shaped by a diverse group of people from all walks of life. I'm fortunate to work in a field where I can have a direct impact on placing diverse talent in these technical roles that create a direct impression on our world and our future 🌍 On a personal level, I'm very fortunate to also be engrained in a community here in Austin that celebrates diversity loud and proud 365 24/7. This isn't the reality for everyone, everywhere. However, that doesn't mean that it can't be. The way we live our lives day to day is what creates these realities 🌟 This month, let's pause to contemplate our engagement with diverse communities—the individuals who enrich our lives, the ideas we cultivate, and how we can amplify our authentic selves to shine brighter in our own unique ways and also become stronger allies for those who rely on our support and advocacy. 🌟 Together, we can make the future of our world a more inclusive and diverse one every day 🌈 #HappyPride #PrideMonth #Diversity

🐍 Embracing New Beginnings 🐍 Today, as many celebrate the Lunar New Year, I’m reflecting on how powerful it is when an organisation creates space for people to truly be themselves. #CSIRO’s recent introduction of cultural leave has given people permission to celebrate their heritage and traditions—whether it’s the Lunar New Year or other cultural milestones. When organisations embrace policies like cultural leave, it’s more than just a day off. It’s a signal of respect, acknowledgment, and a commitment to inclusion. By giving employees the time and space to celebrate who they are, we’re creating a more engaged and motivated workforce. 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲, 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵! We are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the EOS Group this year. So, naturally, we're talking a lot about our own experiences, anecdotes and memories. At our last Townhall meeting, my colleague Lara Flemming asked me about my first day at EOS. I remember it well: First of all, I never wanted to travel for work. And guess what happened? On my very first day at EOS I had to fly to Greece to discuss a deal with our colleagues there. Well done, I thought 😉. And then? Then, being in Athens, I realized how important it was to meet people in person, talk to them and experience them in their environment. Since then, I have traveled a lot for EOS ✈. And I am convinced that this has made us better as a group and me as a person. My learning: 💡 People are different, let’s embrace that and beware of judgment! We actually know that in an international context you should always bear in mind the differences in cultures, customs, temperaments, etc. But let’s be honest, we always forget that, don't we? I always try to consciously leave out my own filter, i.e. my own cultural background, for the time being and just observe and experience how things work elsewhere. After all, I can only learn! And it is an incredible amount of stuff I learned from my international colleagues all over the world! Did I mention that I am grateful for this?
