(Content warning: domestic violence) Can system mapping save lives? In a recent project led by Christian Anibarro, the team worked with the Los Angeles County Office of Violence Prevention to redesign and improve access to domestic violence restraining orders (DVROs). DVROs are proven to be effective, but access to them to can be riddled with barriers. The work the Office undertook with our team has the power to increase the number of people who are granted DVROs, and mostly importantly, may reduce fatalities. Check out our newest case study at the link in the comments to learn more. #systemmapping #violenceprevention #processimprovement

Today, I want to take a moment to shine a spotlight on someone who truly deserves it: Kelly Cranor Great job, Kelly! Your dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed. Whether it’s your innovative approach to problem-solving or your ability to inspire those around you, you consistently raise the bar for excellence. Recognizing the achievements of others is not just about giving credit; it’s about fostering a culture of support and encouragement. When we celebrate each other’s successes, we create an environment where everyone feels valued and motivated to reach their full potential. So, let’s make it a habit to acknowledge the contributions of those in our network. A simple shout-out can open doors to new connections and opportunities. If you’ve had a positive experience with someone in your professional circle, why not share it? Tag them in the comments and let the world know how they’ve made an impact on you or your work. At Orangewood Foundation, we focus on the strengths of the young people we serve, not their deficiencies. For many of our youth, resiliency is one of their greatest strengths, perhaps you might call it a "superpower". Many of them have experienced very significant trauma during their childhood and teenage years. Despite their past, they are now working hard to take steps forward, with the support of Orangewood's dedicated and compassionate staff. When they come up against an obstacle now and feel like giving up, we remind them of all they have overcome in their past and ask them to draw upon their "superpower". Often times, this little reminder changes their mindset and makes the current issue they are grappling with seem much smaller and more manageable. As we pass the halfway point of Human Trafficking Awareness Month, we could use your support so we can walk alongside ALL of the most vulnerable young people we serve, the survivors of, or those currently impacted by, human trafficking. In just over six months, the visitor count for our Project CHOICE Drop-In Center has already exceeded the visitor count for the ENTIRE 23-24 fiscal year. While the resiliency of these young people is remarkable considering all they have been through, they also rely heavily on Orangewood Foundation to provide numerous resources to fulfill their needs such as hot meals, groceries, housing, employment, physical and mental health support, and safety planning. Please consider partnering with us, so we can serve every one of these unfortunate victims. https://lnkd.in/g_n4QhZa
💙 Join us in supporting the incredible dedication of our staff who work directly with the young people we serve. This Human Trafficking Prevention Month, we reflect on what it means to support people who are or have experienced trafficking, and we asked our staff what resiliency means to them. #orangewoodfoundation #endtrafficking
