Excited to share our latest episode of The Elephant in the Org, from my team The Fearless PX where we tackled the intriguing trend of #QuietVacationing. This is such an interesting discussion and I had a blast diving into this topic with Marion and Danny! We dove into how top talent might be taking secret staycations and the implications for #OrganizationalCulture based off an article from Korn Ferry. One of the key things that really resonated with me was that #trust and #psychologicalsafety is paramount in the modern workplace. This perspective shouldn't surprise anyone who knows me but with this particular trend happening it seriously puts a spotlight on how we're establishing our organizations and our team dynamics within them. As we navigate the #FutureOfWork, how can we foster environments where employees feel empowered to recharge without resorting to this kind of stealth mode? Is it the whole org that needs to recalibrate or simply the manager/direct report relationship that needs refining? I'd love to hear your thoughts! How is your organization handling this new trend or have you even seen it? Like I asked Danny and Marion in the podcast - do you think that quiet vacationing is a pathway toward quiet quitting? #WorkplaceCulture #HRTrends #WorkLifeBalance #OrganizationalDevelopment #LeadershipStrategies

👇🏼 Weekly #Podcast review👇🏼 A trend I've seen a lot on social media lately is around people quitting bad #managers whether or not their job is enjoyable. I decided to delve into Don Rheem's episode on LumiQ -- "Increasing Employee Retention Through Neuroscience" 🧠 Here are my 3 key learnings from the episode: 🚫 It's true -- people don’t quit jobs; they quit managers Relationships with immediate supervisors account for 70% of employee engagement. Dysfunctional #leadership drives #talent away, highlighting the urgent need for effective, #empathetic management practices. 🤝 Engagement is emotional, not transactional While perks and paycheques help, true engagement stems from addressing two primary needs of the brain: safety and connection. People thrive in environments of consistency and strong relationships. 🗣️ Feedback matters—more than you think Employees in a "validation deprivation" state crave recognition and constructive feedback. Simple, consistent acknowledgment can significantly boost morale and loyalty. Below I've posted a photo of me with the first manager I had in Canada almost 7 years ago. She turned out to be one of the best managers I've ever had, Lily Robson. She was empathetic, fair, had my back, and always put time into helping me develop my skills. The best part was we ended up becoming best mates outside of work and so I got a lifelong friend out of it too. 🚨 Tag and give recognition to an amazing manager you've had below 👇🏼

Interesting episode from HBR touching on the true value of trust and diversity and why we should listen to the ideas of others rather than simply believing that we know best … I love this quote from Harvard Business School professor Frances Frei. “if I get to benefit from everyone's point of view, and you only get to benefit from some people's point of view, I will competitively thump you.” “we have found that organizations that are inclusive get a 200 to 500% boost on employee engagement and team performance” From HBR On Leadership: How to Solve Your Company’s Toughest Problems, 19 Jun 2024 https://lnkd.in/gzJqZkSk
