We want to thank the FCC for the public notice released today seeking comment on our rulemaking petition filed earlier this year: https://lnkd.in/eTH5EKfu. Today’s action by the FCC is an important next step in delivering an innovative spectrum solution in the Lower 900 MHz band. To enable a terrestrial 3D PNT system to complement and back up GPS, NextNav’s petition asked the FCC to reconfigure the Lower 900 MHz band. This solution addresses critical infrastructure and national security needs and unleashes much-needed low-band spectrum for 5G broadband - all at no cost to taxpayers. I oppose this as it encroaches on already-established use of the frequency by ham radio and LoRa operators. This part of the spectrum should remain public, as I mentioned in the FCC comment I lodged nearly a month ago.

This is horrible and unethical. This band should remain in the public domain where it belongs. This is an obvious bait and switch strategy where NextNav just plans to resell the band rights since its product has no real demand. I hope the FCC isn’t dumb enough to fall for this.

This strongly should be opposed and rejected. Home automation devices use the 900Mhz band, smart electric meters uses the 900Mhz band. The band has seen countless innovations and should not be closed to the public for a private companies gain.

The 900MHz band is an open spectrum that is in use by the public for many innovative technologies and use cases, including LoRa. It has great use as a public spectrum already. We don’t need another privatized technology-of-the-moment to take it, and the community is fighting as hard as we can to keep this spectrum open as it should be.

This is sad - so many people, myself included, have this year invested time and resources to learn and participate in the exponentially growing LoRa network, as well as HAM radio operations. In addition, as others have stated, countless innovations utilize this band... Privatizing would effectively cripple us just as we have begun to really explore the possibilities. Please leave well-enough alone and do not cut operators off from the extensive networks that have taken countless hours and funding to establish.

As someone who uses LoRa, this is not good. There is plenty of public use in the lower 900mhz range. HAM, LoRa, IoT devices like ZigBee, Smart Meters, etc. That range has seen heavy public usage FOR DECADES. To kick others off of it would cause large cost as everyone else would have to replace equipment to move to other frequencies.

Congrats, Mariam and NextNav team, for this great step forward.
