As we honor April 25th, the day of the Carnation Revolution in Portugal, it's crucial to contemplate the freedoms gained and the contemporary threats to these liberties. April 25th, 1974, marked the triumph of democracy over dictatorship and the establishment of fundamental rights such as freedom of expression, assembly, and political participation. Yet, today, these freedoms face new challenges. Authoritarianism, erosion of democratic norms, and the spread of disinformation threaten the very foundation of our liberties. It's imperative to remain vigilant in defending democratic institutions and promoting critical thinking to counter these threats. In this ongoing struggle for liberty, every individual and organization plays a crucial role. As an employee of Issuu, I'm grateful for its role in fostering freedom of thought and expression among its workers. Just as April 25th signifies liberation, Issuu empowers individuals to share their ideas with the world, embodying the spirit of democracy in action.
