Good to see an effective model of Co-Governance working and benefiting the community. Regardless of how the National Act First politics, Co-Governance is the way of the future

Respectful, reciprocal relationships are the foundation of our communities and benefit us all.     In response to the announcement of South Taranaki District Council’s He Pou Tikanga Partnership Strategy, Mayor Phil Nixon discusses the council’s commitment to work in partnership with mana whenua and encourages his community to support the progress that has been made together.    As he mentions, "We work well with our iwi; I think we have a really good relationship, and so it's a matter of building on that and continuing that because I don't want to see any of this go backwards in any way."    Ngāruahine representative John Hooker said the new strategy and continued commitment "cements the relationship between iwi and council so that we can build a better future for the whole community."
