🔍 How can non-profits retain dedicated volunteers? Volunteers are the lifeblood of many non-profit organisations. Retaining dedicated and passionate volunteers is crucial for sustaining impactful work. One effective strategy is to provide continuous training and development opportunities. By investing in their growth, volunteers feel valued and are more likely to stay committed. 🌱 Another key approach is to foster a strong sense of community and belonging. Regular team-building activities, recognition events, and open communication channels can help volunteers feel connected and appreciated. This sense of belonging can significantly boost retention rates. 🤝 Lastly, aligning volunteer roles with their skills and interests can make a huge difference. When volunteers are engaged in tasks they are passionate about and excel in, their satisfaction and commitment levels soar. Tailoring roles to fit individual strengths not only benefits the organisation but also enhances the volunteer experience. What strategies have you found effective in retaining volunteers? Share your thoughts below or visit www.tpp.co.uk to learn more about how we can support your non-profit organisation. #NonProfit #VolunteerRetention #CommunityEngagement

We tend to place higher value on careers with higher payer, but the work of community non-profits are vital to our society and often fill the gap in services that governments overlook. Now more than ever the non-profit sector needs sustainable and accessible funding.

There has been excellent responses already to a recent National Post article about compensation of senior leaders of enviromental charities, including by Imagine Canada and my colleague Reema Fuller. To quote Reema: "Anyone would agree that for a business to be successful, it must invest in its people. Why should charities not be the same? How can we expect them to thrive if it's not the same? The idea that charitable institutions should focus on their leaders' "calling" and passion, and not so much on professional compensation, is preposterous and disrespectful. People should be compensated appropriately, regardless of the sector in which they work. I dare say that is even more vital in a sector that employs 2.4 million people, 77% of whom are women." Imagine Canada has broken down the stats of the charitable workforce to provide some more context.

Day 5 of sharing the results of my online survey on motivation in the non-profit cultural heritage sector. This slide compares the responses from this survey with data from four others. These were chosen as comparators because they used the same question framework, SWEIMS or the longer WEIMS, and a 7-point Likert scale. The respondents indicated a lower extrinsic motivation than most of the comparator studies but similar in other ways. #nonprofit #workplacemotivation #appliedresarch
