Green Hydrogen is a big alternative in renewable and clean energy because we can obtain mainly through electrolysis of water. The only problem is the high cost to do that (Electrolysis). But is an amazing news that in Denmark (H2 Energy) exists a Hydrogen production facility with 1 GW of power.

Understanding the Hydrogen Value Chain: Hydrogen is a key element to unlock a carbon-free future in our global economy. The prerequisite for the integration of hydrogen and in various industrial sectors such as Mobility and Transportation are safety and efficiency across the entire value chain. The hydrogen value chain is typically split into the three fields production, storage and distribution, and consumption/ application. Each of these fields requires expert know-how to ensure safety, decrease costs, and guarantee compliance with regulations, codes, and standards (RCS). Good news: More and more electrolysis plants that produce hydrogen using electricity are being planned in Germany – according to the plans, electrolysers with a capacity of 10.1 gigawatts will be in operation by 2030! This is the result of a study by the Institute of Energy Economics at the University of Cologne (EWI - Energiewirtschaftliches Institut an der Universität zu Köln) presented by the energy company E.ON. 👏 If all of these plants are realized, the German government's goal of installing 10 gigawatts of electrolysis capacity in Germany by 2030 would be achieved! Electrolysis can be used to produce emission-neutral, so-called green hydrogen if electricity from renewable energy sources is used. Thanks to a great collaboration of industry experts of Wind Europe and Hitachi Energy, this report explains the role, the challenges and the flexibility needs of future grids to support energy transformation. Power electronics and digital will be key enabling technologies to make this happen, but continuing to build a new generation of talented engineers will be as important.
By 2050 we will need around four times the power generation capacity and we will need to transfer up to three times as much electricity compared to 2020. Most of this electricity will come from #renewables. #Grids are essential for this transition but they're becoming an increasingly bigger bottleneck. Today’s power systems are facing two major challenges. ⚡ The grid needs to be expanded to integrate more renewables ⚡ And we need to address increasing complexity. Hitachi Energy and WindEurope's new report looks into how these issues need to be addressed. How do we facilitate the need for more flexibility?
