This is something we need to address. It is increasingly becoming an industry norm and it's worrying. As a digital marketer, you get to juggle all these platforms plus marketing strategy and the creative side of things.
As a one-man team, this is overwhelming and marketers are some of the most burnt-out professionals in the world.
The problem is that not many employers care about this unless you work in a good agency where you specialize in one major skill.
What can we say to make them understand that we cannot sustainably create good video content in-house as a team of like one person while juggling other digital aspects............
How can you politely say that "I just can't be the social media manager, company copywriter( all major comms), graphics designer, Media buyer, video producer, photographer, SEO expert, email marketer and marketing strategy creator?"( Without losing your job of coarse 😁 )

I meet with so many business owners weekly, and one of the most common conversations we have surrounds keeping on top of everything.
Picture this:
Me: "So what channels are you using to promote your business already?"
Business Owner: "errm, so we have Facebook, Instagram, Twitter - X but not really using it - oh and we just opened a TikTok"
Me: Ok, so that's your social media, what else are you doing?
Business Owner: Well we've spent a bit on Ads but they didn't really work, and I'm trying to do a few blog posts. We have a weekly newsletter too. But if I'm honest, I've just been posting on Facebook and Instagram, because I can schedule it and post the content on both pages so it's easier

It's more common than you think!
We can easily get swept up in the "what we should have" when it comes to marketing our small businesses.
But I challenge you today - think about your resources - this includes your time. Think about how much time you need to put aside for each area of your business, not just the marketing, think about the networking, accounts, customer service, product/service development - whatever applies to you.
Then come back to your strategy, what platforms are going to serve your business based on your audience, your commercial awareness and your business goals?
What channels can you create a steady consistency with, if you're going to blog once a month, great! Can you blog once a month consistently, with quality material?
Like a recipe - you can always add a pinch of salt as you go and the dish evolves. It's really hard to bring a dish back from dumping a whole bag of salt into it when you're only just getting started 😝
