It's #GivingTuesday, and I happen to work for one of the most impactful #nonprofits in the United States. If you're not familiar with ReFED, I'll keep it short and sweet: we are on a mission to end #FoodWaste. How are we doing that? Through data-driven projects and partnerships across the #FoodSupplyChain. From growers to retailers to solution providers, our work takes place at the systems level, addressing the root causes of #FoodLoss and waste. Reducing food loss and waste can reduce #GreenhouseGasEmissions, reduce #Water and #Land usage, and help #feed communities. Like I said, ReFED work makes a real impact. An exciting kick off for #FoodWasteSummit24!
Big news at the Summit! Secretary of Agriculture Thomas Vilsack just announced the National Strategy for Reducing Food Loss and Waste and Recycling Organics at the opening mainstage of the 2024 ReFED Food Waste Solutions Summit. As Secretary Vilsack said, “This is an issue that ought to bring all of us together.” Reducing #FoodWaste is about more than the #environmental and economic benefits. It’s about fostering a culture of #community. #FoodLossAndWaste reduction will not only shape the #FoodSystem — it will shape the country’s approach to problem solving. The National Strategy is the largest commitment from the federal government on #FLW reduction and #OrganicsRecycling to date, and we look forward to seeing its impact in the years to come.
