💥 The most important talk you'll see this year You know climate change is bad, but where do we actually stand? What is the adaptative capacity of our planet like? Why are climate and nature restoration so connected? And why there is reason for hope. You'll know in 18 minutes, by listening to Johan Rockstrom. 🍃 Keep in the back of your mind that while we need all the solutions he directs us to, but the question of HOW we do it is essential. And if we do it as business as usual, with little regard to human and children's rights, we only save the planet for a few and not the many. https://lnkd.in/eMYRDevZ

From Gloria Walton of The Solutions Project: This mindset-approach for possibility and solutions is excellent and so necessary in just about every space...
Last month, I spoke at The Great Northern Festival’s Climate Solutions series, where I talked about what it means to be a Solutionary. This term was coined by the late Grace Lee Boggs, who said, “Solutionaries are today’s revolutionaries.” As solutionaries, we have to give ourselves permission to dream beyond the confines of existing systems and envision better ways of relating to one another. Transformational change requires shifting away from the doom and gloom climate stories and thinking of solutions that embody the joy of possibility.

MIT has announced leaders for its six climate missions, a major initiative to address global climate challenges. The missions focus on areas such as energy decarbonization, ecosystem restoration, community empowerment, resilient city-building, policy innovation, and exploring high-risk solutions. Some J-WAFS PIs have been appointed as new mission directors. Christopher Knittel will lead the “Inventing new policy approaches” mission, aiming to develop innovative policies for climate change mitigation that promote economic growth and social equity. Benedetto Marelli, heading the “Wild cards” mission, will explore transformative and unconventional climate solutions. Andrew Babbin will oversee the “Restoring atmosphere, protecting land and oceans” mission, focusing on projects that restore atmospheric balance and protect vital ecosystems on land and in the oceans. These leaders, leveraging MIT’s extensive resources and expertise, will drive significant climate progress over the next decade. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ewEUPMDG
