OSM and modular construction SME specializing in semi, LS, and industrial. Hands-on experience in engineering, BIM, fabrication detailing, procurement, shop and field fabrication, rigging, and construction management.
Yesterday I referred to myself as a "Construction Executive" when attempting to explain to a person I met outside of work what I do for a living. Afterwards I felt a bit embarrassed thinking "I made that term up". Upon reflection, though, it is not wrong. Construction is a whole different ecosystem, and describing oneself as an "executive level manager" does not convey the job description. Leading a construction organization is much more jobsite operations facing than just internal or financial facing. You don't have a brick and mortar business, you have project sites. Clients are enabled to reach back into your organization and get access to the leadership in a "sh*t rolls uphill" kind of way because you ultimately are working "in their house". Yes, you still do a lot of power point decks, but unfortunately conflict resolution is also large part of your day to day (but big cranes are also cool). #construction #constructionmanagement #constructionindustry

Blessed husband & father / Coach / General Manager at Central Paving, LLC / "Change your mindset, change your outcome"
I have spent time with four different companies since entering my career, and on this #appreciationwednesday, I am thankful for each every one of them. For each one of them has allowed me to see our industry through a different lens. In that time, I have worked in the commercial, residential, heavy utilities/excavation & asphalt sectors of this industry. I have been an Estimator, Project Manager, Construction Manager & now, General Manager. I have spent many days in the field, attempting to learn the techniques from those who do it best, as well as countless hours surrounded by four walls attempting to manage customer/crew expectations, schedules, submittals, budgets, contracts, etc. I have acted as a subcontractor, as well as a general contractor. I have been a part of projects all across the State of WA and parts of MT. From metropolitan areas, like Seattle, WA, to remote locations, like Wolf Point, MT. I have managed projects ranging from under $5,000 to upwards of $10,000,000. I have been lucky enough to work with some truly great people and have worked through some very tough circumstances with the difficult ones. I have celebrated countless wins with my teams and carried the weight of many losses. The idea of Middleman Mindset may have come to mind after a particular situation, but in reality, the concept behind it all has been building for over a decade, with every position, role, team & company I have had the opportunity to be a part of. .................... It is time to challenge the way it has always been in the blue collar industry. True leadership starts in the middle. .. Change your mindset. Change your outcome. .. Helping construction companies protect their workers → stop lecturing about rules and start teaching people how to believe in safety | I’ll show you how | Curious about my services? DM me
This is potentially the worst-case scenario for anyone in construction leadership. You said you were going to put controls in place to protect the workers There's an accident You didn't put those controls in place That you documented putting in place And now you’re in BIG TROUBLE. Yikes. 😬 Let's talk about it... The easiest way to look at all this is to prove that you've done your due diligence from the get-go. "What do you mean, Craig?" Well... you need to ensure the work site or the task is safe. That's why we do hazard assessments. But here’s the issue ⤋ If there's nothing documented, you can't prove it, right? There’s a risk in everything. That's life on a construction site. 🤷♂️ That being said... you've got some controls to lean on. You have to document that process. And show that you put them in place. Part of that is asking yourself this question: “Have you put those controls in place?” Once you’ve answered that question You're going to document what you're going to do... Then you’re gonna do it. But say you don't do any of this... We’re back to that worst-case scenario I mentioned at the start of this post. You don’t want to end up there. ❌ Unfortunately, that's where people get caught up. Sometimes they think they have to write a novel in every report, leading to them cutting corners and not writing them… but the truth is they don’t. And the consequences are far from worth it. You just have to: Take the critical stuff ➯ the simple things that could hurt somebody ➯ figure out how to protect the worker ➯ document it ➯ and then put that in place. Enough said. What do you think? Do you feel similarly? ________ If you want to avoid worst-case scenarios on your worksite and sleep more soundly at night ➸ shoot me a DM… I specialize in exactly that. #leadership #construction #safety

Proverbs 16:9 “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” This verse highlights the balance between our plans and God’s sovereignty. While we make plans and seek opportunities, it is ultimately God who directs our steps. Recognizing this helps us to remain humble and dependent on God’s guidance, seeking His wisdom to navigate through the opportunities that come our way. Very thankful for the opportunities that have came my families way both professionally and personally. Had a great training with “Leading The Clyde Way” to end last week in Utah. Had a chance to come together with other amazing leaders from our company. It is always very humbling to be included in a group of leaders like that. WW Clyde and Clyde Companies, Inc. invests a lot of money and time into this leadership program and it is up to us to take advantage of it and bring it back to our teams and share it. If your looking for a career with a company that truly values their employees there are not many places better to be than here at WW Clyde. If your looking for an opportunity for growth and to be a part of a team that values you, and wants you to grow and continuously improve, reach out don’t hesitate. Currently looking for Project Managers, Grading, Concrete, and Underground Superintendents, Foreman, Universal Operators, Pipe Layers, Project Engineers, and motivated individuals that want to learn and be part of a team that is determined to WIN! #Hiring #Leadership #clydeinnovator

Connecting Building Services Engineers with the best career opportunities Australia has to offer⭐️Australia’s most recommended Building Services Recruiter⭐️300+ recommendations📱0407719874 📧 jack@connexusrecruitment.com
People often associate building a network with leadership, or being in a senior position. In fact, you should be looking to build your network from day one in your career as a building services engineer. Use every project, meeting, call and industry event as a chance to build relationships with your peers. Whether they be other engineers, architects, project managers or trades! One thing I’ve learnt in the 8 years of recruiting in Sydney’s building services sector…. The market is tiny! You never know when you’ll cross paths again.

Just had a call with the Chief Development Officer from a leading Miami-based firm. We discussed career trajectory, starting positions, and leadership in real estate. Three big takeaways: 1. Start in positions like construction engineering, management, superintendent, etc. Start with hands-on experience: Majority do not do this, and focus on the financials and investing. No experience in construction is a killer. 2. Big companies do it right. Big companies know how to build: If you’re new to the industry, you gotta learn from someone who knows what they’re doing. Work for someone big and learn to do it THE RIGHT WAY! 3. Executives with construction backgrounds are becoming a rarity. Rare background: After networking for a while, you realize that most high-ranking executives have finance backgrounds. Construction or engineering backgrounds will set you apart. I’ll be putting together a substack post to elaborate on what I learned on this topic. Anything else you would add?

I have always been a big advocate for the field teams. These men and women are the ones getting the job done for all these white collar professionals to enjoy a great place to work in the future. It is very important to invest in them and show them why they are so important. And then appreciate them and allow them to see the potential for growth and the appreciation for their work. The best tool to use on a jobsite is the positive morale to get through all obstacles.
Creating High Performing Construction Professionals - Elevating Careers, Income and Wellbeing | Founder | Performance Coach | Workforce Development - Miller Electric Company
I’ve been quiet for too long about the inefficiencies in the construction industry. I have to champion for the feild… The truth is, too much focus is placed on the top, while the real drivers of success—field professionals—are left without the support they need to thrive. The industry doesn’t need another traditional leader; it needs someone willing to challenge the norms and fight for the people who make projects happen. Here’s why: 1️⃣ Unlocking Untapped Potential: Field teams have more to offer than they’re given credit for. When we invest in their growth, we unlock skills and leadership that boost project outcomes and improve overall performance. 2️⃣ Reducing Turnover with Retention: The cost of losing skilled professionals is high. By focusing on their development and career advancement, we retain talent, reduce turnover, and build stronger, more cohesive teams. 3️⃣ Creating Safer, Smarter Worksites: Safety isn’t just about compliance—it’s about culture. By empowering leaders at all levels, we build safer projects, reduce incidents, and create environments where people want to work. 4️⃣ Delivering Consistent Quality: When teams feel valued and supported, they take ownership of their work. This results in less rework, higher client satisfaction, and a reputation for quality that drives repeat business. The construction industry needs someone who isn’t afraid to speak up and advocate for the boots-on-the-ground professionals. It’s time to push for real change—because when the field wins, everyone wins. What are your thoughts on this post, and what are you doing to create a positive impact in your work place? Like and re-post if you’re in agreement!
