Commander, Pittsburgh District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

Great to see the real value provided by Corps flood risk management infrastructure.

Last month's severe weather threatened Pittsburgh, but the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District prevented six feet of floodwater from inundating downtown! With 16 reservoirs and decades of dedication, we've averted $14 billion in damages since 1938. Our Water Management team strategically reduced reservoir releases to control water levels. Often unnoticed. The work we do is deeply meaningful and impactful. That's what drives me to do the work I do for Pittsburgh.
