Want to know my current favorite job search site? (It's not Indeed) It's actually Google for Jobs. Why do I use Google for Jobs so much? It's an aggregator that pulls listings from all across the web, offering many more opportunities than you would typically find on another site. Main advantages: Wide reach - It crawls listings from multiple job boards, career sites, and company websites. Streamlined search - Leveraging Google's search capabilities, it simply provides a better search experience. Customization - With better detailed filters than Indeed for location, industry, job type, and company, it tailors your job search to meet your exact needs and preferences. A tip for job seekers: While Google for Jobs is an exceptional tool, remember that a successful job search strategy involves a mix. Remember to check out industry-specific boards, do your networking, and check company career pages directly for the most comprehensive approach. Are you searching for a job? Here are my top 5 tips for developing a customized job search strategy. 1. Research companies that hire people who do what you want to do, use LinkedIn, Google, and Professional Associations as research tools. 2. Create a list of companies. 3. Once a week go to your company list and check those company websites for new job postings. 4. Be consistent, jobs are posted every day all day. Find a schedule of once or twice a week so you don't miss a posting. 5. Prioritize your applications, no deadline means apply ASAP, otherwise follow the application preferred deadlines and ALWAYS apply on the company websites when possible. Good luck! You got this!

How a recruiter finds you on LinkedIn Have you ever heard of the hidden job market? These are jobs that aren't publicly posted and not easily found. So this is something called a proactive candidate search. It's when a recruiter goes out and looks for candidates that fit certain criteria. Jobseeker platforms lets them put in a set of keywords. Things like your transferable skills, your location, your education. And it can sort through and give them a list of results that they can then reach out and contact these candidates proactively. So why does this matter to you? You know when you go to the internet and you're looking for something and you throw in a few keywords, and out comes 12,000 pages? Do you read all 12,000 pages? I know that I don't. We don't have time for that. Instead, we trust the internet algorithm to give us that first page of results as the most relevant results. The recruiter looks at those first 50 candidates as the most relevant matches. So what does this mean to you? It means you have an opportunity to optimize your LinkedIn profile in order to get notice. The right keywords in the right places on your LinkedIn profile can make recruiters come to you directly.
