As we head into the next general election, this event will help charities and funders to better understand current Conservative views on civil society, and what it means for them. We will be joined by Samuel Kasumu, former Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on Civil Society and Communities, and Jo Gideon MP to discuss: What differing approaches to the role of civil society are there in the Conservative Party? What might these differing approaches mean for civil society? How can the sector best influence the Conservative party in the run-up to, and following, the general election? https://lnkd.in/etFybKQ3

#donoradvisedfunds funds (#DAFs) and the East Bay Community Foundation mission-based funds are a great way to give to your local community. Consider making an online cash gift if you want it to count towards possible 2023 tax deduction. Otherwise, consider your philanthropy budget for 2024 and start preparing in January - that way you can fund your favorite cause areas in a steady manner throughout 2024 without having to wait until year-end. A #philanthropy budget is a great way to stay on target with your mission-based interests & cause areas versus responding to “asks” throughout the year and realizing you might have budget shortfall for areas you personally care about. #donoradvisedfunds #donors #taxdeductions #missiondriven
There's just a few days left in 2023 to make your tax-deductible donations to help create a sense of home and belonging for all East Bay residents. More than just four walls, home also means having family-sustaining jobs, healthy neighborhoods, nourishing arts and culture, equitable public services, and responsive local government. Join us and donate to create an East Bay where everyone can dream, heal, and belong. https://lnkd.in/eikf3z_w

We are close to meeting our end-of-year fundraising goal! Just a few days left to donate. Here are three reasons we need your support today. 1. Our Training and Education program is free - and it’s going to stay that way. Our Training and Education program is funded mostly by grants and donations. We do not charge registration fees. This program has grown quickly in the past three years, serving more than 2,000 defenders every year. We are committed to ensuring these services will remain free so that all defenders have access to the training and support they need, especially in under-resourced jurisdictions. We depend on you to keep this free. 2. Costs have risen. We are determined to pay all of our staff a fair and competitive wage and provide benefits that give every team member the support that they and their families need. With inflation and a team of 14, those costs are higher than they were when ARC was working in our executive director’s basement almost ten years ago. While the costs of travel, records collection, and even client commissary have increased significantly, the fees for services that most courts authorize for our work have remained stagnant. In many of the jurisdictions where we work the rates for mitigation services have not risen in years, which means we need additional sources of support to keep our organization sustainable. 3. We have big plans to change the world. Last week, after a year of working with staff, board members, and other stakeholders, our board of directors approved a new visionary strategic plan for the future of the organization’s work. It includes programming to bring empathy, equity, and justice to all those engaged in the criminal legal system as well as leveraging mitigation to prevent future harm. All of this means that donations from you, our community, are needed today. We hope you'll make a donation to support our work. https://lnkd.in/gfdGci8r

To create a respectful and responsible community for youths that has been affected by mass incarceration of parents, violence in the community and lack of comprehensive mentorship!
I believe that our greatest investment is not in road and bridges but in the education of our children.
As the year ends, we are reflecting on the incredible work our generous supporters were able to help us do this year. The next generation of changemakers are empowering young people in Chicago and around the world to build a stronger culture of democracy that can stand the test of time, and bring change home to their communities. Your donations help us keep turning hope into action, and bringing about a brighter future for all of us. Make a gift today: Obama.org/donate
