If we are going to stay in this fight to save our democracy. Here are some things that I believe need to happen: 1. Eliminate lobbying and lobbyists, you don’t get to influence elected officials with money. 2. Implement term limits. 3. Implement mandatory retirement age 4. Change pay, benefits and days off packages must change 5. You only get a pension if you serve ______amount of terms. 6. Eliminate lifetime appointments for everyone including the Supreme Court. 7. Make everyone accountable to the voters. We can impeach and remove elected officials 8. Eliminate the Electoral College. This is just a start we can take it and improve, emblish or start over.

This is a personal post… Seems to me that, at last, battle lines are finally being cleared as we hurtle headlong towards the UK 🇬🇧 General election that is, to my mind at least, last chance saloon, otherwise we might be heading to the dark ages for a while. With many companies considering leaving the UK 🇬🇧 as its headquarters and listing on #stockmarkets elsewhere be that the USA 🇺🇸, Germany 🇩🇪 France 🇫🇷 Holland 🇳🇱 or Switzerland 🇨🇭the City of London in particular is concerned. Similar concerns exist in terms of #braindrain in such as #science, #technology etc… A number of the articles of note below are in The Telegraph, so they have to be taken in that context, but still, you might find them enlightening/of interest (subscription may be required): 1. Who was Britain’s worst Chancellor. https://lnkd.in/e2HyVuNk …together with thoughts on Rt Hon Rachel Reeves MP as Chancellor should she get into number 11 https://lnkd.in/eiYwTptG 2. Esther McVey, the Minister Without Portfolio finally coming out with comment as to the UK Civil Service https://lnkd.in/e759SzDH 3. After Rishi Sunak declared “war” in terms of unemployed benefit, Helena Morrissey has written this article on the #sicknote culture https://lnkd.in/evKJ-rAV 4. Comment as to The Labour Party and their record in Wales 🏴 https://lnkd.in/eaMgXtU4 5. The Labour Party and the Unions fighting back against a centre right think tank https://lnkd.in/e2w5enkn Also of interest in the Telegraph were articles about things that further affect our everyday lives: A. #pensions - https://lnkd.in/efNYc4QR B. #inheritance - https://lnkd.in/ebyuNjbE …while finally, reflecting my day job, I found this to be really insightful from Merryn Somerset Webb and Bloomberg regarding #genz https://lnkd.in/eU57JpG8 Gets you thinking that’s for sure…🤔🤷🏻♂️ #campaigns #election #politics #economics #socialmedia ✌️✊🕊️🇬🇧

#Older voters loom large in elections this year in the U.S., U.K. and France. Not only do they turn out to #vote more #reliably than the #young, but they also account for a growing share of the #electorate. As a result, leading #political parties in many countries are pledging to protect retirees’ income and #health coverage, at a time when growing numbers of retirees will #strain government #finances. Older voters often are more #concerned than younger ones about #crime and #immigration, and less likely to support #environmental initiatives.

There are a number of considerations you must analyze when making decisions about post-government employment. You should discuss these with your agency ethics counselor well in advance of retirement. The attached guidance should assist non-senior DoD personnel (O6 and below) regarding potential restrictions.
