D-wave recording is particularly useful in #neurosurgical interventions such as spinal tumors, where it is important to assess the function of the #corticospinal tract cranial and caudal medullary fibers of a #spinal lesion. Special #electrode catheters with several contacts are placed epidurally for signal conduction. In addition to #monitoring the function of motor descending nerve pathways, D-wave recording enables an assessment of the number of functioning, fast-conducting fibers in the corticospinal tract. D-wave signals are less influenced by #anesthetics, heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature compared to #MEP signals, which is an added value in #intraoperative signal interpretation compared to MEP recording. With #AVALANCHE® PLUS, the configuration of the up to 3-channel D-wave lead is done visually via drag & drop.
