🌟 Navigating Career Breaks: Tips for Financial Preparedness and Personal Fulfillment 🌟 In a client meeting yesterday, I had the privilege of speaking with a remarkable woman in her 40s who has embarked on a well-deserved career break. With $2M in assets (excluding her home) and $175k put aside for her monthly expenses over the next 18 months, she epitomizes the essence of financial preparedness. Yet, even with her meticulous planning, she confessed to moments of doubt—those 2 am wake-up calls tinged with the worry of not receiving a paycheck. Reflecting on our conversation, I'm reminded of the delicate balance between financial stability and personal fulfillment during career breaks. Here are some insights to ponder if you're considering taking a hiatus from your career: 1️⃣ Financial Preparedness: Before diving into your break, take stock of your financial situation. Calculate your expenses, assess your savings, and set aside a buffer for unforeseen circumstances. This proactive approach can alleviate financial stress and allow you to fully immerse yourself in the break. 2️⃣ Embrace the Journey: A career break isn't just about stepping away from work; it's an opportunity for self-discovery and personal growth. Use this time to explore new passions, pursue hobbies, or invest in personal development. Embrace the journey, and you may uncover hidden talents or aspirations you never knew existed. 3️⃣ Mindset Matters: Despite meticulous planning, doubts and anxieties may still creep in. It's normal to question your decision, especially when societal norms dictate the constant pursuit of productivity. Remember to be gentle with yourself and acknowledge these feelings without judgment. A supportive network and open communication can provide invaluable reassurance during moments of uncertainty. Lastly, but not the least, take enough time off before diving into a new chapter. Too often, individuals rush back into the workforce, driven by external pressures or a fear of stagnation. Yet, by allowing yourself the gift of time—a chance to recharge, reflect, and realign—you pave the way for a more fulfilling and purpose-driven career trajectory. So, whether you're contemplating a career break or navigating the post-break transition, remember this: Your journey is unique, and there's no one-size-fits-all approach. Embrace the opportunity for growth, lean into discomfort, and above all, allow yourself the grace to savor the present moment. 🌿✨ #CareerBreak #FinancialPlanning #PersonalGrowth #Wellness #SelfCare #CareerTransition

𝐀𝐧𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 is bound to encounter some of these concerns along the way. This is even more common if switching career fields. Here are 7 that I see most often... 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞: Stepping into the unknown can feel overwhelming, especially when you're leaving behind what's familiar and comfortable. This is why people stay longer in their job than they should. 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐆𝐚𝐩: It’s tough realizing your current skill set doesn’t quite match your new career goals, and closing that gap takes time and effort. In 2024 there are ZERO EXCUSES! With so many resources at our fingertips if you don't know how to do something it's because you don't want to! 𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞: Entering a new field can feel like learning a new language - there’s so much you don’t know yet, and it’s easy to feel behind. Again, this is on you... instead of reading this post maybe you should be researching your specific field of interest 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤: The fear of taking a pay cut or starting at a lower level can make you second-guess the transition, especially if you’ve got bills to pay. It's probably not that you don't make enough money... you probably have too much debt. Is that 2nd car payment of $500 month really necessary? 𝐋𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: Letting go of a professional identity you’ve built can shake your confidence, leaving you wondering if you’ll ever measure up in the new field. This is why you should constantly be adding to you "Brag File"... 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Starting fresh in a new industry often means building relationships from scratch, and that takes time, energy, and persistence. This can be improved in the 60 seconds... 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: It’s hard not to feel like you’re at a disadvantage when you’re up against people with years of experience in the field you're just stepping into. There's a way to use this to your advantage... Are there any others that you've felt or seen in your career transitions or people close to you? #resumes #careers #7seconresume #resumetips #careerchange #roadblocks #upskilling #linkedinlearning
