The rail line will connect Vale's industrial parks in Port Sohar and the Free Zone in #Oman to a planned large industrial park in the #UAE. In addition, Oman and Etihad Rail, developer and operator of the rail network between the UAE and Oman, have reached an agreement with Brazilian mining giant Vale to explore the possibility of transporting iron ore and its derivatives by rail. In the first nine months of 2022, trade between the UAE and Oman reached an estimated 4.19 billion euros ($10.88 billion), fully justifying Oman's position as one of the UAE's largest non-oil global trading partners. Power Metal Resources PLC (AIM:POW, OTCQB:POWMD) has completed its first field programme in Saudi Arabia under a partnership with EV Metals subsidiary, RIWAQ. The study was carried out at the Balthaga project, where Power Metal can earn into a 30% stake in 13 tenements and where lithium and rare earths are the targets. Balthaga lies 450km east of Jeddah in the southeast of the Arabian Shield area and consists of 13 contiguous exploration licenses granted in succession over the last two years covering a total area of 1200sq km. A further two licences comprise the total agreement area but are in different locations and focus on other commodities. Guinea secures $15bn financing for Simandou iron ore project

One of the world’s largest iron ore deposits, Simandou, in Guinea, West Africa, is 30-40% ready for launch. The first volumes of raw materials are expected to be produced next year. This was stated by Samuel Gahigi, CEO of Rio Tinto Guinea. According to him, 30-35% of the project’s necessary infrastructure has already been completed, and the construction of railways has reached about 30-40%. “There is no doubt that the project will be implemented on schedule – by the end of December 2025,” said Samuel Gahigi. The Simandou field has reserves of 4.41 billion tons of iron ore in four areas. The project’s initial production capacity will be 120 million tons of ore per year. WCS owns the northern part of the mine (blocks 1 and 2), where China Baowu will be the main player in the development of the deposit. The other two blocks are owned by Rio Tinto through its Simfer joint venture with China’s Chalco Iron Ore Holdings and the government of Guinea. The project is progressing slowly due to infrastructure construction. In 2022, the government of Guinea, Winning Consortium Simandou (WCS), and Rio Tinto Simfer established La Compagnie du TransGuinéen (CTG) to jointly build rail and port infrastructure. Simfer and WCS each hold 42.5% of the shares, while the state of Guinea holds 15%. According to Gahigi, Simandou could increase Guinea’s GDP by 50%, as it is estimated that the country will receive an additional $2-3 billion from the project starting in 2030. The Sharjah Petroleum Council, a governmental body in Sharjah, has revealed the uncovering of fresh gas reservoirs in the Al Hadiba field, situated north of the Al Sajaa Industrial Area in Sharjah, showing promising quantities deemed economically viable. This recent discovery comes following drilling activities conducted by the Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC)over recent months. Testing of the well will be carried out in the coming days to determine the potential gas reserves of the field and confirm their viability for future development. The Al Hadiba field marks the fifth onshore field in Sharjah, complementing the existing Al Saja’a, Kahif, Mahani, and Muayed fields, with the latter being repurposed into a gas storage facility.
