Last Sunday NIO, William tested himself our industry 150-kWh ultra-long-range battery pack, achieving a range of over 1,000 km on a single charge, not in theory, but for real. A true milestone! Here are my thoughts on why NIO was the first to pull-off such a feat and why it makes so much sens: 1. Vision and action fueled by pure entrepreneurship spirit, NIO set-up ambitious and visionary goals going well beyond what industry thought was possible, we then set-up to work with a innovative start-up (WeLion) trusted their technology and supported them to bring this all the way to industrialisation working hand in hand to solve all issues 2. System efficiency thanks to Power Swap Station network and technology which makes it so relevant: - All NIO cars, from the first gen ES8 can use the battery thanks to standardised battery packs: this means this new technology can benefit all NIO users today and hence could be communicated early on - High cost can be spread out over the wider user base and made sustainable as user only need to rent a 150 kWh when they need it for a reasonable price (which also saves resources) - Swapping speed advantage is even more reinforced at swapping a 150 kWh battery can give you full range in a 3 minutes (imagine how long it would take to charge) Besides I recommend to those that can to check the live stream, watching our CEO drive the car himself and interact with everyone in such a hard-working, humble and honest way truly embodies the NIO spirit.
