People often think that hiring stops over the holiday. I have found that to not be the case at all. Many companies actually speed their processes up to hopefully be able to onboard a new candidate in the New Year. It is true that things slow down a few days on either side of Christmas/New Years because most hiring managers are off/out of town, but it is not as bad as you think. Here are just a few searches that I am actively recruiting for: Accounting manager, great company, (hybrid) North Atlanta Senior Accountant, great company, (hybrid) North Atlanta Staff/Sr Property Accountant, amazing people, smaller company Senior Accountant, Buckhead, Hybrid Lead Analyst, PE owned company, someone out of TAS or i banking

100% true. I concur with this. The business philosophy seems to be; if in doubt then it must be within the Financial Controller’s remit. A big reason why most Financial Controllers work between 50-60 hours a week, suffering from burn out and others feel it’s impossible to do the core part of the role.

Most companies throw extra work on the Controllers ▸ Accounting ▸ hiring/firing ▸ insurance ▸ everything IT related all lands on their desk. It’s like the controller becomes the default for anything remotely finance or admin related. 📍 Review contracts? Send it to the controller. 📍 Vendor issues? Controller. 📍 Employee expenses? Controller again. But here’s the problem:. This overload dilutes productivity & focus. Controllers are supposed to ensure financial accuracy and integrity. That’s their core job. When they are juggling ten other hats, critical details get missed. This isn’t sustainable. Companies need to rethink this approach.
