🚛✨ I’m leaving Hanover with a head full of ideas and a heart full of excitement. Here are my 5 key takeaways from this year’s IAA: 1. Innovation Everywhere: The advancements in zero-emission technologies were phenomenal. Our industry is on the brink of a revolutionary shift, and it’s inspiring to see the collective drive toward sustainability. 2. Customer Focus: The feedback and engagement from our customers have been invaluable. And it helps us tremendously sharpen our next steps. 3. Collaborative Spirit: The level of collaboration across different sectors and companies is unprecedented. Together with all our colleagues at the other departments of Daimler Truck and our dealer partners, we’re building an integrated ecosystem that supports the transition to electric vehicles. 4. Challenges Ahead: While the progress is exciting, the journey is not without its challenges. Infrastructure, financing, and regulatory hurdles need continuous attention and innovative solutions. 5. Future Outlook: The future of transportation is bright, with endless opportunities to make a significant impact. I leave motivated and confident that we’re on the right path towards #netzero.

Second biggest automotive parts supplier in Germany and third in World, ZF Friedrichshafen, is implementing significant changes in response to financial pressures and the transition to electric vehicles (EVs). The company plans to cut up to 12,000 jobs by 2030, focusing primarily on its German operations. This decision comes as ZF grapples with rising interest rates and high upfront costs associated with the shift to EVs, coupled with slower-than-expected demand. The company reported a net debt of €11.5 billion as of mid-2023, prompting immediate actions, including the reduction of 800 jobs last year. The broader German automotive industry is experiencing similar challenges. Major suppliers like Bosch and Continental are also announcing job cuts due to inflation, increased raw material costs, and the transition to EVs which require less labor compared to internal combustion engine vehicles. It’s a pivotal moment for the industry, reflecting the urgent need for strategic adjustments in response to evolving market dynamics. In the 2023 business year, Bosch Rexroth recorded further growth – and that’s despite all challenges! Sales increased once again to a new high of around 7.6 billion euros, mainly driven by our HydraForce Inc. acquisition, but we still need to be prepared because incoming orders are declining.   The current year continues to be characterized by the weak economy and major uncertainties in the economic and political environment. This, along with increased material, energy, logistics and wage costs means that cost pressure will remain high. Challenge accepted – we are continuously taking measures to increase our competitiveness. This includes greater automation of processes, as well as the continuous further development and better balancing of our global production network.   We not only want to hold our own in the current environment, but also prepare for the next upswing. Innovation and investment play a significant role in this. We are convinced that these measures will enable us to further strengthen our position as a leading supplier of products, solutions and services for customers in #hydraulics and #factoryautomation.   Many thanks to the #team, whose great dedication and commitment have helped us to be successful in 2023.
